Right. We’re picking up the pace in Northamptonshire. Only two weeks into the new term and we’re already finding lots of things to be getting on with. This week’s What’s On gives us the opportunity to squeeze into our Christmas gladrags one more time before hitting the gym (or at least trying to be good and healthy). Oh, and did I mention that we’ve been shortlisted as Top UK Blog – Art and Culture? There’s a really good feel good factor about the county this week – let’s get busy shall we?Read more
I’ve always loved Wellingborough’s Castle Theatre. Yes it is only five minutes from my house and it does have a Frank’s Hamburger House, but aside from that, it has always put great shows on, that I often just ambled down to last minute and watched on me tod! That was until it closed earlier in the year, after its operator went into liquidation, and I mourned the loss of my cultural local! But then, surprisingly it reopened two months later in August, and like a Phoenix from the ashes it arose and is now flying with performances like Snow White on Ice.Read more
Jo who edits Muddy Norfolk is obviously nuts about Strictly, as is my Mum, my daughter, the kitchen sink… After years of poo-poohing Saturday night TV, I finally relented and guess what? I love it! – And thankfully, Jo’s only gone and pulled together the best dances ever from the show’s history. Gawd bless you Jo; now you Mudsters can get your sequin and spray tan fix on the blog too, enjoy!Read more

Albion Artists Exhibition, The Primrose Gallery, Thurs 25- Sat 27 Aug
I always feel dead posh at an art exhib (just me? tee hee). This one is a joint exhibition of recent work by Northamptonshire professional artists, Angela Stanbridge, Peter Almond & Jane Warwick. They all work in very different ways, giving a diverse and interesting mix of art to see (you can use that line while you’re there ; )
MusiQuiz – a Music Quiz for the Music Whizz, Angel Inn, Yarwell, Thurs 25 Aug
Know and love music?
So far this summer holiday I have survived a few play-dates (although I am under instruction never to call them that for 11-year-old girls), a week in a yurt in rainy Tenby, plus a mammoth clothes washing session that nearly resulted in Mr Muddy’s breakdown (he overseas laundry in our household – I know, I don’t know how lucky I am! Anyhoo, with the help of my lovely intern number one, Daisy Ward, we’ve managed to put together a few more exciting things for your diary.Read more
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, Errol Flynn Filmhouse, Fri 29 Jul
Appropriate for their big screen debut, Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone are still oozing glitz and glamour, living the high life they are accustomed to; shopping, drinking and clubbing their way around London’s trendiest hotspots (ahhh I remember the halcyon days). But when they accidentally push Kate Moss into the river Thames at an uber fashionable launch party, Eddy and Patsy become entangled in a media storm surrounding the supermodel’s untimely demise and are relentlessly pursued by the paparazzi.
Throughout the Summer don’t forget to check back into Muddy as I’ll regularly be updating and adding to the weekly Muddy Guides, and if you know of anything utterly amazing that you think I’ve omitted, feel free to let me know. Right, gin and tonic at the ready? Then let the holiday Muddy Guides commence!
