Home or salon – a Katherine Daniels facial will kick start a glow!

15 Mar 2017

I’d never heard of Katherine Daniels, but back in October I had an invite to an event in Corby for this relatively new skincare brand. For one reason or another, I didn’t get to the event, but the super nice ladies at the PR company asked me if I wanted to go for a facial at their head office instead. It was in Bedford, and I was thinking, hmmmm, can I afford the time for an hour and a half round trip, but after looking on the website and seeing the uber stylish products, I decreed, yes; yes I jolly well could make the effort (I think Muddy Cambridge is a fan too).

Muddy does a Bridget ‘mini-break’ – Forest of Arden Hotel

15 Feb 2017

Sometimes, the stress of a holiday or the 10 hours stuck in traffic on the way to Cornwall, really do negate any benefits of a trip away; that’s why I’m the new champion of a cheeky break on your own doorstep (or near as damn it)! And according to Marriott’s Great British Break Report, two fifths of Brits chose to take a break in their own county in 2016 and that number is set to rise, with three in ten of all those questioned admitting they are more likely to holiday in their own backyard now than they were in the past.

Rachel Johnston – My favourite places & things to do in Northants

13 Feb 2017

I had a slight addiction to those house-hunting TV programmes in the ’90s, so can you imagine doing it as a real job?! Well Rachel does, lucky lady, because she’s a home-finder at Stacks Property Search. She goes out and about for clients in Northants and Bucks, so she’s been around our fair Shire quiiiiiite a lot! Here are her favourite places and things to do in and around Northamptonshire…

Remarkably Northamptonshire it is still a little known county for those outside its environs: with the beauty of Warwickshire, the character of Oxfordshire, the convenience of Buckinghamshire – and the price of Northamptonshire – I think it’s a county more people should get to know!

Zone Face Lift – can you really take off 10 years in 12 weeks?

23 Jan 2017

Now I don’t know if the above promise is true, because I only had one session, but I’ve seen lots of good results from the Zone Face Lift, and if injections and fillers aren’t your bag, a course of these could be worth a go! I’m no stranger to Steve Hunt and his reflexology room in his house in Northampton, as I reviewed his facial reflexology last year (and slept like a baby that night).

On my soapbox: Healthiness shouldn’t be a status symbol

20 Jan 2017

OK, it’s time to clamber back onto my soapbox. Actually, can you just bear with me while I do three sets of tricep dips off it first? As is the drill in January, I’m using this relatively quiet time of year, undistracted by mulled wine and stilton, to ramp up my health and fitness. Eating a bit less, moving a bit more, trying to jiggle into my lycra leggings that I’m sure didn’t feel like tighter than clingfilm this time last year.

Muddy tries permanent eyebrows (tattoos, gulp)

19 Jan 2017

I often get invitations to try out new treatments, but when Elizabeth Hopkins from Beauty Classics mailed me and offered me some eyebrow tattooing, I wasn’t overly enthusiastic (nothing against Liz). I’ve never injected or filled my face (I don’t judge people who do, it’s just a choice right now, which could change with bells on in a few years), and the thought of having something permanent on my mug filled me with fear.

7 tips for fitness that we’re determined to stick to

8 Jan 2017

Really need to do something to counteract those 8,000 mince pies? Us too. But breaking out that neglected Lycra (or in Hillary Swank’s case, that itty bitty bikini) is flippin’ hard, especially when it’s cold and dark outside and Netflix is emitting its siren call. But look people, there are ways of eassssing yourself, Muddy style, into a non-terrifying new year fitness regime. Steve Carvey, triathlete and superstar PT has some properly helpful, insightful tips for Muddy readers whether we’re gym bunnies,  freeformers, or morning-dodgers (hit the snooze button, I’ll get up when I’m good and ready).
