Is there a food festival in such glorious surroundings as Althorp House (trust me I’ve been, and I wanted to move in, not sure Lord Spencer was up for the clickety clack of the Muddy Stilettos though)..? Even if there is a slim chance there is one somewhere as stunning, it’s not on our doorstep, laid out on rolling green hills, miles from the madding ‘Northamptonshire’ crowd (24-25 Sep).

We live in an age where there are festivals ago-go; an age in which we are somewhat spoiled.

High Five Northants – Tearooms

As it’s National Afternoon Tea Week this week (8th-14th August) we thought it would be fitting to fill you scrummy lot in on five fabuloso tea rooms in the county (admittedly, it finishes tomorrow, but hey, tea’s not just for National Afternoon Tea Week! From jazz lounges to art galleries these tearooms really do highlight the variety Northamptonshire has in all that it does, plus the top quality that we all love and expect when it comes to afternoon tea!

I Hart beer

I like beer. Not pints and pints of it, but those little third of a pint glasses, you know the ones, you get them in craft beer pubs in a taster paddle with three drinks in the hole (a kind of beer tapas, if you will). Beer and I became  better acquainted after I became features editor on a magazine called Off-Licence News; it was difficult (nigh on impossible) not to try the offerings on display, and over the last few years as the craft beer industry (or is it indie beer now?) has really taken off, well, it would have been rude not to.
