Staycation. Staycation Staycation. It’s an opportunity to take some time out and explore your own county, even if you only have a spare evening. And it still surprises me that after a twenty minute car journey from Northampton (a mere skip across the M1 to the west of the county), you can have yourself a proper local adventure. Door to door and back in 24 hours, we’ve met some inspiringly talented people and bone fide entrepreneurs.Read more
Mothering Sunday – A day out for Mums, Sons, Daughters and anyone inbetween…
They come in all shapes and sizes, we love them, and they can drive us mad but on this day more than any other we celebrate them all. There are a host of lovely lunches already planned for our Northants Mums, but I ask you, is there a more idyllic setting for a celebration of maternal appreciation than the rolling Northamptonshire countryside and a trip up or down the Welford road?Read more
Sometimes, the stress of a holiday or the 10 hours stuck in traffic on the way to Cornwall, really do negate any benefits of a trip away; that’s why I’m the new champion of a cheeky break on your own doorstep (or near as damn it)! And according to Marriott’s Great British Break Report, two fifths of Brits chose to take a break in their own county in 2016 and that number is set to rise, with three in ten of all those questioned admitting they are more likely to holiday in their own backyard now than they were in the past.Read more
Has there ever been a better combination than romance and bored children? This week’s What’s On deals with the paradox of Valentines Day and half term hitting us like a Perfect Storm. Put another way, perfect Mums and Dads, should get, nay DESERVE, a bit of fun time after days of distracting the little ‘uns. Allow us to show you how…

I wrote this post just before Christmas 2016 but we have at least another month of freakin’ cold weather, so this is a reminder of some lovely welcoming pubs to try out.
We asked you for your recommendations for the finest pubs to snuggle up in and you didnt let us down. I’m more of a chestnuts roasting on an open fire kind a gal, rather than jack frost nipping at my toes.Read more
Right. We’re picking up the pace in Northamptonshire. Only two weeks into the new term and we’re already finding lots of things to be getting on with. This week’s What’s On gives us the opportunity to squeeze into our Christmas gladrags one more time before hitting the gym (or at least trying to be good and healthy). Oh, and did I mention that we’ve been shortlisted as Top UK Blog – Art and Culture? There’s a really good feel good factor about the county this week – let’s get busy shall we?Read more
Muddy loves a Friday night jaunt, cocktails, drinks, dinner and the luxury of 500 count Egyptian cotton sheets – all within 20 metres of each other. And so it came to pass that The Talbot Hotel in Oundle extended a very generous invitation to sample their fabulous new cocktail menu and partake in all of the other delights that the Hotel and Restaurant has to offer.
We started off the evening in the bar (as you do) and perused the cocktail menu which was definitely more female friendly, with a sugary summery vibe.Read more

Fancy a weekend in a hotel with The Hoste with the most (terrible, I know, I’ve gotta work on the jokes), well this is your bag? Northamptonshire’s not known for its beaches (since we couldn’t be further from the coast line if we tried), and as a lass who grew up with muddy AND sandy stilettos, I often crave for the salty air and sand between my toes. I’ve fancied Burnham Market in North Norfolk for a while.Read more
