Just when you thought Northamptonshire was ‘only’ a capital of culture and cuisine, this summer our idyllic countryside comes to life my Muddy friends. There are a number of festival shenanigans planned for the county between now and September, and judging by the music line-ups and the fun factor on offer, we think it’s going to be a cracking few months indeed. Move over Glasters and V – Northamptonshire welcomes festival goers of all types…
Althorp Food & Drink Festival, 6-7 May
Oh – now, this really is a Muddy fave with many of the county’s best food & drink producers on display.
We’re full of the joys of Spring here at Muddy. Why, you ask? We’ve spritzed the office and everyone in it with this zingy, sunshiny, delicious new fragrance from natural beauty brand Neom.
Have you given a thought to summer camping yet? Those yurts, lodges and cool glampy sites get booked up waaaaay in advance, so to give you the early heads up, here are the 25 best places to start your search, as chosen by the people in the know – the regional Muddy editors.
This week the What’s on has a distinctly maternal feel to it. It’s Mothering Sunday on 26 March, and whilst there are lots of other fun activities to be getting on with around the county, this Muddy thinks it’s time to put Mum first.
A Tribute to George Michael, Kettering Park Hotel, Friday 24 March
His larger than life persona, and sheer talent was been the soundtrack to our lives – ever since we woke up in the eighties and “went went”, This “tribute to George Michael” is well timed for those of us who want to be reminded of just how good he was.
Ahhhhhhhh, how I perceive myself having a cocktail may not necessarily translate to how I actually look having one; but nevertheless, I like cocktails, and so I shall endeavour to carry on drinking them, whether I can emulate Betty Draper or not.
There are some great cocktail bars in Northants (here’s a blog post we did last year with some Muddy faves), but they’re often a destination venue on a night out, rather than just a quick drink after work, or somewhere you can enjoy a cocktail while the kids have their tea.
Here we are, the next in our High Five Northants series, and this time it’s wedding venues! Muddy intern Maddy Morgan checks out places from gorgeous hotels to country barns, and it’s fair to say, the list of places in sunny Northants, where you and your fiance can say ‘I do’, is pretty plentiful. Quite frankly, our county is full of beautiful venues that offer a whole variety of options for the nuptials; but here’s five to start, and we’ll go a bit more quirky on the next lot…
Possibly one of the most picturesque hotels in Northamptonshire (we’ve been there), Rushton Hall offers you the fairytale wedding you’ve always dreamed of!
Seeking literary inspiration? Muddy’s professional bookworm Kerry Potter is here to help with her March picks. That precarious tower of tomes on your bedside table is about to getting even taller
Staycation. Staycation Staycation. It’s an opportunity to take some time out and explore your own county, even if you only have a spare evening. And it still surprises me that after a twenty minute car journey from Northampton (a mere skip across the M1 to the west of the county), you can have yourself a proper local adventure. Door to door and back in 24 hours, we’ve met some inspiringly talented people and bone fide entrepreneurs.
Beautiful (salon quality) products and a facial that left our Muddy assistant with a face like a baby’s bottom…
The Spring equinox is nearly upon us and that’s the time that we head outside, have some fun, and then head inside for more fun. There’s lots on offer for us all in and around the county this week, and there’s sweet treats to keep our energy levels high because we’re going to need some stamina to get through it all.
70’s Party Night, Whittlebury Hall, 7.30pm – 12.30am, Friday, 17 March
Yes Sir, I can boogie, But I need a certain song, I can boogie, boogie boogie, All night long.
