Asti’s Hair – 4 tips for summer plaits
I love a plait, be it on-trend cutesy plaits or more likely bedhead braids. Fishtails don’t just suit 8-year-old ballet dancers, plaits are practical, pretty and there are plenty of different looks for different hair types. I visited Lauren at Asti’s in Wellingborough for her braiding/plaiting tips (she’s a demon with a colour too).
Step 1 – Day old hair is best as it’s less fly away (my hair is fly away all of the time as you can see). Section down the middle or where your parting is so your hair is in two halfs.
Step 2 – Section the right, then the left into three pieces start and each time grab another piece for each section. Repeat. If you’re doing it yourself, don’t look in the mirror, and count 1,2,3…
Step 3 – Loosen the plait a little if you feel like you want a more messy look.
Step 4 – Pin underneath and cross hair grips to keep firm.
Voila, it’s that easy. If your hair is very fine like mine, I’d advise giving it a bit of a back comb so it holds better, then dress up or down with hair accessories and a bit of slap!
If you want a warm and friendly atmosphere with a stylist who listens and advises but ultimately does what you would like with your hair, then Lauren is for you.
Prices are very reasonable – full head colour and cut and blow dry £49.95 – and she also does model Wednesdays for £37. Kids hair is amazingly reasonable, from £5 up, and Lauren is Mini Muddy’s hair dresser of choice. Daughter going to a prom? Nip in here; they do the whole shebang of hair, from up dos to perming, good old blow drys to, er, plaits.
