Off to the Panto we go…

Fly away to the Royal & Derngate this Crimbo as their production of Peter Pan has taken off!

We’re in the midst of Xmas celebrations here at Muddy so what’s better than a trip to the theatre. We sent Muddy’s Rachel Rose to the Royal & Derngate to check out their latest production.

We’ve decorated the tree, been ice skating and to really amp up the festive buzz got ourselves booked into the Panto at the Derngate Northampton, this year’s performance is Peter Pan…. I mean who doesn’t love Peter Pan?

We arrived early to secure a large glass of wine and a coffee for Mr Muddy and we soon buckled to pester power, and purchased the Mudlets a couple of flashing cutlasses which kept them happy enough whilst we soaked up the atmosphere, which was BUZZING.

I don’t know who is more excited, the boys or us parents? Now as it turns out Pantos sure have changed since I was a little girl, whilst the classic “oh no he isn’t” and “he’s behind you” still feature (which I love). The whole production had all the bells and whistles of a thoroughly modern interpretation, from Tink on skates to the awesome dance moves of Flawless; I half expected Simon Cowell to jump up from the audience at any point.

The show goes along at an awesome pace keeping young and old glued to the performance. Darren Day nails a cockney Captain Hook but for me I loved the Grumbleweeds turn as Smee and Starkey, they were hilarious and had the Eldest Mudlet in stitches, well the PG jokes for him there were plenty just for the adults.

If you are umming and aaahing about buying tickets for yourself or as a gift I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend whipping out £££’s and get booked in. It really will knock your socks off it totally got us in the festive spirit.

The show runs until Sunday 30 December and tickets can be purchased by calling the box office on 01604 624811 or online.
