Muddy says: a gorgeous spot to enjoy a casual canoe, or extend your stay and drift downstream
Located midway between London and Birmingham on the idyllic banks of the River Nene, Canoe2 is one of Northamptonshire’s finest outdoorsy assets, with a wealth of natural and historic beauty for you to enjoy as you drift along the water. Having been the home of canoeing short breaks in the area since 2010, there’s really no better spot to take in the stunning scenes this lovely county has to offer.
Based at the Rushden Lakes retail centre (a Muddy favourite if there ever was one!), you can hire a canoe for an hour and explore the near vicinity. Fancy an impulse paddle in a Kayak or a leisurely trip in a Swan Pedalo after your shopping trip? Honestly, when do you not?
For the more intrepid explorers open your eyes, relax, and float downstream for half a day to 5 days toward Peterborough, and into Cambridgeshire. These longer trips include pick-up and overnight stays in carefully selected B&Bs. Or you can choose a wonderful ‘Comfy Camping’ option, staying in a Yurt, Tipi, Bell Tents, or even a church! And wherever you go, you’ll be treated to a fabulous breakfast.
For the real enthusiast Canoe2 also has its own shop at Rushden Lakes stocking fabulous well-known brands who focus on quality craft and accessories and have recently introduced canoe & kayak lessons including BCU certificated courses.
Highly recommended for a fantastic day out and trying something new!
