Pear Tree Cottage Annex, Newnham

Muddy Says: Local Tourists pay attention. Here’s a high quality bolthole with access to beautiful Northants walks, and some wonderful hostelries. You’re far from the madding crowd and close to some well deserved R&R

Pear Tree Cottage Annex Everdon

This Muddy loves the hospitality and the creativity on show in the towns, villages and hamlets across Northamptonshire.  The fact that I live in the county doesn’t stop me being a tourist – enjoying the talent and warmth on offer from small business owners I meet. Karen King is one such person. She’s the owner of the lovely Pear Tree Cottage annex, and has created a lovely place to visit where any visitor can lay their head(s) for the evening – local or otherwise.

The Pear Tree Cottage Annex is a lovely self-catering accommodation. It’s a one bedroom cottage with a modernised interior, an en suite bathroom and a luxurious King size bed. Karen leaves shower gel, shampoo and conditioner and there are always plenty of fresh towels. There is a well equipped kitchen area with a microwave, electric hob, oven/grill, slow cooker, toaster and tea and coffee making facilities. Sound good?  Back to the hospitality. Karen will always ensure you have some milk and a small welcome pack (croissants/bread, butter, preserves, yoghurt, granola and fruit) for your immediate needs. Tea and coffee (instant and filter) is available for your use (LOVE that there’s proper coffee). They keep some sliced bread in the freezer so you can have fresh toast whenever you like, with a small selection of preserves (including homemade jams).

Alternatively you could pop out to the pub/cafe next door for supper. Karen has an agreement with her neighbours at The Romer Arms (Maria & David) so that if you’d like to take your supper/lunch back to the Annex to eat, they will happily plate something up for you. There are other local dining options (information on the sideboard with Karen’s personal recommendations all within a 3/4 mile radius).

And if you get in touch with Karen ahead of the trip, and let her know what you’re looking for don’t be surprised to see her go the extra yard and add little extras depending on the reason for your visit!!!

The location of Pear Tree Cottage is superb. There are loads of great walking routes and  lots of options in terms of local hostelries to visit, such as  The Plough Inn and previously mentioned Romer Arms. If you are feeling adventurous, you could always pack yourselves up with a picnic (there is a basket and blanket for you in the Annex) and head off to Badby Woods, Everdon Stubbs or Fawsley Park. The market town of Daventry is nearby and Muddy favourite haunt, Fawsley Hall, is only a couple of miles away.

Karen always contacts guests the day before their arrival to let you know where to find Pear Tree Cottage within the village, and key availability etc. If you let her know how you want to be contacted, then she can do this for you prior to your arrival.

At £65 per night (or discounted for longer stays) it’s an easy decision to make. Fancy a quick break? I do.
