8 vegan friendly eateries

Vegans unite! Got the munchies and not sure where to go? Muddy has your back with our guide to Vegan eateries

Does anything have such a marmite like response as veganism…well apart from Marmite? Whatever your thoughts on eating vegan, plant based diets continue their popularity thanks to the likes of Deliciously Ella and those aesthetic Instagram feeds. With that in mind, Muddy writer, Holly Lamb, is dishing up a guide to N’hants best vegan places for fresh and feel-good food, with quite literally, no beef…

Pure Morning, Kettering

As Kettering’s first ever ‘all vegan cafe’, it’s a plant based extravaganza and one which is open Monday to Saturday 8am-5pm, conveniently located by the market place in the town centre. Lunch is the star of the show: Yasai rice, Rainbow couscous, paninis and freshly prepped sandwiches, all washed down with a fruit smoothie. The cafe welcomes workaholics and encourages people to bring their laptops and sip on a latte – which you’ll never guess is also…vegan. Try the bunny hop for a fruity drink that packs a punch.

The Sun Inn, Kislingbury

Only a few mins drive from the M1, making it ideal for a pit stop and refuel, vegans can find a buzzing atmosphere as this pub is very popular amongst locals and everyone raves about their vegan menu. Highlights include the vegan margherita or spicy vegan pizzas for just £10 and under, or their take on a British classic with a twist: Tofish & Chips.

Animals in Need Sanctuary Cafe, Little Irchester

Fancy welcoming another member to the family? Well, treat the Mudlets to a new pet and feel even more saintly by visiting the sanctuary’s vegan cafe. From homemade jams and chutneys, as well as cakes and cuppas, it’s all vegan, but the Mudlets probably won’t even notice because it’s that delish. Enjoy the cake knowing that you’re saving another furry friend, as all donations go back to the charity.

The Fox and Hounds, Lower Harlestone

This traditional English pub has a vegan menu (available Monday-Sunday) and is nestled near the idyllic Althorp Estate. It’s great for vegans who are wining and dining in search of a fancier dinner. Curries, sweet potato tarts, harissa burgers, and not to forget the coconut sorbet, the chefs here have truly crafted a tasty menu sure to get your tastebuds tantalised. What’s better is that from 12pm everyday, main dishes are on offer from only £8.95 – a fantabulous bargain.

Nuovo, Northampton

A proper Muddy fave (and Award winner), think tapas, tunes and venetian vibes. Sharing with a vegan around the table might previously have been perceived as a little tricky, but fear not, Nuovo has vegan menus available and a plethora of platters ready to be devoured over Italian wine (just ask!) Vegan options include olive oil drizzled rustic bread, as well as boards of gorgeous antipasti. Vegans can eat away to their heart’s content, especially at such good value.

The Old Cherry Tree, Olney

Found in the quaint and picturesque market town of Olney, the Cherry Tree boasts the backdrop of a beaut building with cosy art deco splashed on the stone walls. For me, it’s all about the breakfast and the dish that is quite literally MADE for vegans: sweet potato chilli hash, mushroom, kale pesto and toasted sourdough….you don’t even need to be vegan to want to munch on this meal.

La Terraza, Grange Park

It’s the return of the tapas again, however, this time it has a Spanish twist. Vegans will be salsa dancing with happiness at this cute bar because Friday lunchtime means any 2 tapas and a drink for £9.95 – sounds suitable for drinks and nibbles with friends, particularly when it’s only over at Grange Park.

Greyhound, Milton Malsor

This pub, which FYI has its own duck pond and glorious garden, is a safe haven for vegans, especially when you’re out with the family for a meal but don’t want to fret. The Greyhound offers more than just a plate of greens for vegans: courgette and harissa flavoured rice skewers to start, an ‘ultimate’ vegan burger for main, (or choose from an Asian noodle salad or garden bowl if you’re looking for a little more ‘guilt free’) and a vegan choccy torte to finish.
