A g-incredible afternoon at Gin & Temple.
We raised a glass (or several) at G&T's first ever gin club! There's another one in November, if you like gin we'd recommend you book it in now!
Yes, it may be small (we prefer the term intimate and cosy) but G&T’s on St Giles Street in Northampton town centre is big on gins and serves up only the best, unique and delicious gin flavours around. Their very own gin masters are cocktail making experts and we always love popping in to see what new ones they have on the menu.
This time round we popped in for their first ever gin club in collaboration with one of Northampton’s most popular distillers Warners Gin. An afternoon of learning and sampling gins is the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon if you ask us. With a gin and tonic on arrival (which went down a treat natch) we settled in and got to ‘work’. We learnt all about the history of gin and how Warners got to where it is today; then we had the pleasure of sampling 5 gin flavours, starting from their London dry gin to their delicious HoneyBee and also their limited edition, Apple and Pear.
Even though we love our gin, we still learnt a thing or two including what mixers work best with certain gins. In a back to school moment we learnt the science of how gin is made and what happens behind the scenes down at the distillery (can we just give a round of applause to all of the hard work and love that goes into every bottle – it’s a lot). All in all it was a lovely little event, and for gin lovers a definite must. You learn a lot, chat a lot and of course, drink a lot.
There is another gin club event in November and be sure to check out their Facebook events page for all their latest happenings. Also, if you’re on the scout for a venue for a birthday, hen or heneral shindig, this is highly recommended. Christmas is approaching and they are taking bookings for anything you may need it for – you bring the party – they bring the gin.
G&T’s is one of our fave places to visit as it’s perfect for almost any occasion. Whether it’s date night, drinks with friends, a pre tipple before the theatre or just a naughty one after a day of shopping, plus it’s smack bang in the centre of town! They also have cocktail master classes and afternoon tea, and the bar is kitted out with quirky décor so looks good on anyone’s insta. The staff and owners are always SOOOO nice and welcoming and will make you up a glass of whatever you fancy; just let them know what flavours and tastes you like and let them do all of the work.
