Tap and Kitchen Oundle

Dalston vibes in the dreamy environs of beautiful Oundle, Tap and Kitchen do chilled outdoor dining to perfection and they’re pooch friendly too. The produce is carefully sourced to provide outstanding but fuss-free dishes. Expect home baked pizzas, gourmet sandwiches and Sunday roasts served from 12 April.

The Red Lion , Yardley Hastings

The philosophy at The Red Lion is to serve top quality ingredients and high end cooking at affordable prices and they definitely deliver. The food is exceptional under the expert guidance of Head Chef Emma Fowkes, who’s passion and dedication to her craft is palpable. There’s a large garden in a lovely village setting and they will be open for outside dining from 12 April.

The Watling Street Village, Towcester

Watling Street Village

This family favourite is brilliant for kids, with its tucked away garden stretching lazily back from the restaurant and a relaxed menu that covers you for brekkie, light bites, burgers, pizza, kids and cocktails. Covered outside areas and patio heaters: check and check. Open for outside dining from 12 April.

The Tollemache Arms, Harrington


Multiple Muddy award winner The Tolly, as it is fondly known, is one for the gin lovers (raises hand). The house gin, Warners, is produced just 200 yards away, so get yourself a G&T and sit in their pretty garden knowing that your tipple is truly local and probably being distilled as you sip. Dining in the picturesque countryside gardens kicks off from 16 April on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The Griffin’s Head, Mears Ashby

This fab destination pub attracts diners from far and wide. It’s one of a string of top tier hospitality businesses, including Hibiscus, John Franklins and The Artizan, run by the brilliant Tom Hewer and believe me, we are not talking your average pub grub here. Heated outside dining returns from 13 April.

The Falcon Inn, Fotheringhay

They do amazing BBQ and wood fired pizza nights in the beautiful garden here and The Falcon is a real foodie pub, where excellent, locally sourced ingredients are served with attention to detail, so if you are looking for somewhere really special for a breakout destination, then make it here. Open from 12 April.

The Brampton Halt, Chapel Brampton

What better reward for after a walk or cycle along the Brampton Valley Way, than to end up at The Brampton Halt (I mean, you can drive here too, obvs), an idyllic country pub located in the quaint and well-heeled village of Chapel Brampton. The courtyard and garden will be open for outside dining from 12 April, offering an extensive menu of seasonal dishes.

The Narrow Boat, Weedon

Set beside the Grand Union Canal in Weedon, this family run pub is a superb pooch friendly restaurant with stacks of outside space to sit and watch the boats float by as you eat and drink with your crew. All meats are supplied by nearby Onley Farms, with 28 dry-aged sirloin, belly of pork and lamb rump to choose from, alongside a vegan mushroom and spinach wellington, and micro greens supplied by the superlative Microgreener vertical indoor farm in Northampton, without the use of pesticides. The brand new marquee and gardens will be open for dining from 12 April.

The Butchers Arms, Greens Norton

The Butchers Arms Green Norton

The Butchers Arms does that rare thing of being a friendly community pub whilst also managing to lay on a really exciting menu. Not to mention the fab cocktails and a pared back, industrial-chic vibe. The lovely terraced garden here is a sun trap, perfect for a family meal or an afternoon soaking up the Pimm’s. Opening from 12 April with food being served from 13 April.

The Cromwell Cottage, Kislingbury

Spacious, bursting with character and dishing up good food, good beer and good vibes. The Cromwell Cottage is and absolute must for family gatherings, date nights and socially distanced drinks in the garden. The Muddy crew will be mainlining Aperol Spritz and tucking into mezze platter here under a shady parasol asap. Ro-opening for inside and outside dining from 17 May.
