Did somebody say jackfruit burger? *Licks lips*. The food industry has seriously upped its game of late when it comes to high quality, tasty vegan food. Whittlebury Park, Nr Towcester
Whittlebury Park have introduced plant-based menus across all of their restaurants, offering a huge range of options whether you’re here for a spa stay or just a quick bite. You can have a vegan afternoon tea, which includes a coronation chickpea poppadom and dark choc and caramel brownie, or head to Murray’s one of the most incredible fine dining spots in the shire, and indulge in the plant-based tasting menu from Head Chef Harvey Lockwood.
The Green Loft, Northampton
Did you know that the biggest vegan restaurant in the UK is right here on the Wellingborough Road? You can’t miss the rather esoteric building, resembling a sort of spaghetti western film set. Get stuck in to a massive range of specially designed, crowd-pleasing dishes for a plant-based diet from vegan fish and chips and burgers to seitan steak, veggie tart, kofta and falafel. You can even chow down on a vegan cheesecake.
Karmana, Northampton
Celeb vegan Russell Brand gave Karmana the thumbs up when he ate here a couple of months ago and the bearded one knows his vegan cuisine. From curries and burgers to pizzas and tacos, the food is all created with a real passion for nutritious, plant-based food and they even have a raw vegan menu too.

The Ark, Northampton
This super friendly, floating vegan cafe on the River Nene is wedged between the University’s Waterside campus and Radlands skate park. Scoff homemade cakes, toasties and epic veggie burgers while you gaze at the swans floating by on the river and sip a cup of Yellow Bourbon Coffee roasted just up the road.
The Willow and Brook, Apethorpe
If you’re vegan or have vegans in the family there’s nothing more brilliant than finding a really nice restaurant that will suit everyone. The friendly team at The Willow and Brook will genuinely bend over backwards to make everyone feel welcome. Yes. Including vegans. And we’re not just talking one dish here. There’s a whole vegan menu for both lunch and dinner, with loads of yummy options like vegan halloumi BLT , “cheesy” chips or lentil and aubergine curry.
The Fox and Hounds, Harlestone
Last time I had dinner here and ordered the plant-based burger I genuinely wondered if I’d been given the wrong meal. I’m no expert as I haven’t eaten meat in about 35 years but I couldn’t tell the difference. The extensive vegan menu here is spot on, with plenty of healthy and filling options.
Cromwell Cottage, Kislingbury
This brilliant foodie pub has a dedicated vegan menu alongside the regular meaty fayre, so if you’re following a plant-based diet you don’t have to pick your way gingerly through all the other dishes to find anything you can actually eat. We were seriously impressed by the choice here, which includes a root vegetable bake and a spiced coconut curry.

Santina’s Wood Fired Pizza Co., Weedon
We couldn’t possibly not mention Muddy Award winning Santina’s, who travel the length and breadth of the county to bring you their scrumdiddlyumptious Neapolitan style pizzas but, most importantly, they will do all their pizzas with vegan cheese. I can testify to the deliciousness. Check their instagram to see where they’ll be popping up near you.
