Valentine’s Day deliveries
Holding out for a hero? No need, we've found you 9 noble knights in shining armour or, at the very least, in cardboard takeaway boxes, to inject some foodie romance into your Valentine's Day.
Hibiscus Fine Dining, Delapré Abbey, Northampton
Hibiscus is the place to go if you’re in the market for a romantic meal for two, but as you can’t go to the actual restaurant this year, then how about a fabulous 4-course set menu with wine pairings, created by Head Chef Sam Squires. Mainated heritgae tomato? Braised beef and celeriac pithiver? Don’t mind if we do.
Well, you do have to collect this one in person but it will be worth the trip. Let’s face it, we don’t get out much, so call it a romantic drive in the countryside and have a leisurely stroll in the grounds of this historic country house hotel while you’re there. The Valentine’s menu for two includes vodka and beetroot cured salmon, beef wellington, chocolate tart and artisan cheeses.
The Red Lion, Yardley Hastings
Crack open the sangria, The Red Lion are serving up regular special occasion takeout feasts and with Head Chef Emma Fowkes working her creative magic at the helm, they are guaranteed to be fun and indulgent. Be quick to book on for their Spanish Tapas Valentine’s Supper before they sell out. I’ll take two of the Basque cheesecakes thank you.
Burnt Lemon Chefs, Woodford
For a Valentine’s Day extravaganza, Burnt Lemon have joined forces with The Occasion Bar to create a stunning finish-at-home menu and cocktail box to set the romantic mood and I’m salivating at the thought of their truffle creamed cauli soup… if the Mudlets ever go to bed, that is.
The Red Lion, Hellidon
If we can’t relax by the log fires right now then we’ll definitely be nabbing one of their scrumptious takeaways. All ready to collect and reheat at home, the Valentine’s menu includes smoked salmon terrine, duck parmentier and a champagne and raspberry posset with strawberries dipped in chocolate. Oh, and there’s free delivery within a five mile radius too, so if you’re close enough you can even pop your champagne cork pre-dinner.
The Fox and Hounds, Charwelton
The Fox and Hounds in Charwelton is a super-friendly pub that boasts the most fabulously elevated menus. Their Valentine’s special includes a seafood platter, a bouillabaisse and a chocolate tasting plate, Mr Muddy’s idea of heaven.
SWEET TREAT GIFT BOX DELIVERIES
TGR Hampers, Brackley
A gorgeous spin-off from The Green Room bistro and cocktail lounge, TGR hampers have a v classy range of gift hampers including a rather special Laurent Perrier champagne gift set (pictured), which includes a bottle of rosé champers, macaroons, truffles, brownie bites and a posh scented candle for setting the romantic vibe, even if it is just you on the sofa in your trackies watching Bridget Jones.
Honeywell Biscuit Co., Welford
Tea and biscuits in bed is right up there on my list of fantasy romantic treats, so a box of these cutest of cookies from the Honeywell Biscuit Co. is all it would take to set my pulse racing. No crumbs in the sheets though.
The Copper Kitchen, Northampton
The Copper Kitchen have put together Valentine’s themed afternoon tea and treat box deliveries, so if the finger sarnies, sausage rolls, heart-shaped vol-au-vents and cakes aren’t enough for your amorous appetites then nab a pretty treat box too and hit that sweet spot.
The Popcorn Pantry, Northampton
We said nine but here’s a cheeky extra. Planning to spend the evening cuddled up on the sofa watching a movie? Don’t forget the Valentine’s-themed popcorn. The Popcorn Pantry have a special gift box for all you love-birds out their to share…. I said share, and it’s stuffed full of dark and milk chocolate covered popcorn, sugar pink popcorn, candy melts and love heart sweets.
