Stylist to the stars – 10 Autumnal trends
Rawrrr, the ultimate fashion event at Rushden Lakes made a wild return, this time round taking us from Summer to Autumn/Winter courtesy of some brilliant fashion gurus
Now we know how hard it is this time of year transitioning from summer to those colder darker days. You start the day in knits and coats because it’s freezing, then by lunch time, you’re sweating your backsides off. It’s easy to lose your fashion mojo in a new season when it’s all a bit overwhelming, which is why it was the perfect time for Rushden Lakes to host their Autumn Style Safari event. Focusing on all things fashion; industry professionals talked shoppers through the latest trends, tips and tricks to give everyone’s wardrobes a refresh.
The event had a whole lot going on with styling consultations from celebrity stylist Ms Campbell (Charlene Bent), showcasing her edit in Robert Goddard (she also runs styling workshops in Magazine Heaven). Charlene was a joy to meet and if you’re looking for a bit of help on the styling front we’d HIGHLY recommend her (London’s loss is Northamptonshire’s gain)! She gave us her top 10 trends below, and they fitted in with loads of styles available in-store.
Ms Campbell says the key is to buy into a couple of trends and mix and match with your existing wardrobe, even some of your summer gear. This advice was reiterated by social media influencer Emily Valentine aka @stylelobster who showed us her feel good fashion pieces picked from stores around the lakes. Highlighting similar trends as above, she recommended a black roll-neck as the most useful Autumn piece to layer under or over dresses – extending the life of your summer threads (so good was the Jigsaw one she picked, we nabbed it up with a hefty discount in the sale)!
Lastly on hand for style advice was Muddy Northants duo (moi – Anna-Lou Muddy editor and Ciaran our snazzy digital content assistant). We picked our fave pieces and gave style advice to shoppers in Hobbs – just call us the new Phil and Holly.
Rushden Lakes really is a fashion lovers paradise. Jones to Phase Eight, Primark to River Island, Joules to Jack Wills, it has it all, with shops to suit most budgets and styles. Also, there are new arrivals opening all the time, Barbour and Hotter being the latest. We found lots of perfect transitional pieces, all great to layer up or down, from suits and skirts to puffer jackets to sweats, it really is an exciting season ahead with beautiful textures and prints.
So if you need some new pieces to wear then Rushden Lakes has you totally covered. The downside of so much choice is you can spend a good few hours getting lost in all of the rails, so maybe pick a few key trends you like before you go (see list above). After the hard slog of a shop, don’t forget to treat yourself to some of the yummy places to eat and drink, then perhaps catch a film at Cineworld (if all the shopping hasn’t tired you out). And basically, that is why everyone LOVES Rushden Lakes (parking issues aside)…It’s the holy triangle of the 3 Fs – fashion, food and film; and it’s all there in one place!
