Smart buy your sunnies!
Remember you need to protect your peepers in the winter sun too! Here's where to buy some corkers!
I’ve never owned a pair of designer sunglasses, mostly because I assumed I’d just lose them and it would be a waste of cash. And well also, if I had a spare hundred quid knocking around, I’d have rather have spent it on fun and good times. But now I’m getting on, and in theory becoming more sensible, my priorities have shifted. I had my eyes lasered a few years ago and noticed a bit more sensitivity in the sun. One afternoon I borrowed a friends sunnies (v exclusive one’s she said, but I don’t remember the make), and they made such a difference to my normal ‘freebie on the front of a mag pair’, I thought I’ve got to take the designer plunge. Fortuitously, the timing was just right. As a blogger, I sometimes get approached by a few companies here and there who think the Muddy readers would like what they sell. Sometimes I know instinctively they’re not right for the blog, but when SmartBuyGlasses got in touch and I checked out the website, I knew I was about to become a designer sunnies convert.
So, if you’re thinking of making the investment, here’s 3 reasons why SmartBuying your sunnies might work!
Reason 1. It’s sooooo easy to shop on SmartBuyGlasses and there’s shed loads to choose from. It says on t’internet, they have the largest selection of designer eyewear online with over 80,000 products and 180 brands, so probably, something for everyone (even the pickiest of shoppers). There is also free multiple lens coatings that protect your glasses and, ultimately, your eyes (and for spanners like me who constantly leave glasses face down and drop them, this really helps)!
Reason 2. Virtual Try-On (yipee, I know right!), plus interactive shopping guides and product videos all make it a cinch to order online, and that’s before you get to the price which can be quite a bit cheaper than on the high street and often with a sizeable discount! I still get a bit nervous ordering online, especially if I’ve not heard of the company, which in this case I hadn’t. But a quick research (I am a journo after all ; ) showed that SmartBuyGlasses Optical Group is in fact a well-known global leader in designer eyewear with operations in the UK, US, Australia, Canada and loads more places. Online shopping confidence restored!
Reason 3. I’m definitely a designer sunny convert and it’s not so much about the way the look, but the lenses and how they work. It was almost like when I put my new Burberry Trench glasses on, I could see everything more clearly than without them (see below, I didn’t really take them off for the first few days of a recent trip to Turkey).
I know not everyone can afford designer, and I certainly have been part of the cheap and cheerful brigade, but after wearing these bad boys, my eyes really do feel more protected. As we all know, ultraviolet rays from the sun are incredibly damaging to our eyes, so that box is definitely ticked when you shop from SmartBuyGlasses, but more than that, the polarized lenses have a built-in, laminated filter that only lets vertical light rays to pass through, and almost totally blocks horizontal rays to eliminate glares (bit sciency, but bear with). What it means is, this really helps when you’re on the water since you can suddenly see through the surface, which was previously clouded by the reflections from the sun and sky above!
As we did a full day boat trip and spent a lot of time near the water, it really did help having my new shades!
The Muddy Verdict
Spending a little bit more on something that you’ve previously taken for granted might take a leap of faith, but I can recommend taking that step – particularly from a trusted retailer such as SmartBuyGlasses.
The quality of my test drive Burberry glasses wasn’t just about eye protection, but I loved the design and the sturdy nature of the glasses – a real difference from cheaper versions. And rather than replace your glasses every Summer – look on these beauties as an investment for years to come – so take good care of them.
Sometimes you need a quality pair of sunglasses in that low winter sun as much as in the summer. I plumped for a Tom Ford pair for my winter peepers. They’re actually men’s, but I wear a lot of men’s fragrance and liked these one’s the best (£228 on the site).
