7 fab Northants interiors stores
House in need of a style update? Take a peep inside our selection of Northamptonshire's most gorgeous interiors shops.
Step away from the flatpack warehouses and generic chain stores and give some love to your local interiors shop to score some uniquely lovely homewares to suit every style.
The Simple Interior Company, Daventry
Think pared back, Scandi chic, natural wood and clean lines for that minimalist hygge vibe, from candles and cushions to furniture and lighting. Owner Lindsay moved The Simple Interior Company lock stock and barrel from Southam to the buzzing Sheaf Street in Daventry back at the end of 2019 and little did she know what challenges lay ahead (cheers Covid…). But this gorgeously curated shop has gone from strength to strength ever since, even managing to bag the 2021 Muddy Award for Best Interiors Store.
Auburn Fox, Thrapston
Auburn Fox embody that cosy, classy and irreverent style that’s somehow quintessentially British. Think worn leather and Harris Tweed sofas, brass stags heads and union jack cushions. I can picture myself sitting beside a roaring log fire with a glass of whisky every time I scroll through their Instagram feed.
Hilly Horton, Thrapston
Soft and whimsical with a generous helping of distressed chic, Hilly Horton is our definition of homely, country style. Think harmonious neutrals and natural materials. We’re loving their woollen throws and chunky stoneware table lamps.
The Bean Hive, Kettering
If quirky maximalism has your vote then you can guarantee this pretty pink painted gift and homewares shop will go the extra mile. The Bean Hive is an absolute treasure trove for funky finds from colourful character cushions to super-kitsch statuettes and art prints.
Oh Curio, Harringworth
In a converted stone barn in the pretty village of Harringworth, this seductive shop is all about high quality, aspirational homewares, from soft linens in pastel shades to beeswax candles, woven baskets and rustic ceramics. You can even grab yourself a pretty decent coffee and a cake while you’re here.
Itsy Bitsy, Upper Stowe
With an emphasis on upcycling and furniture restoration, Itsy Bitsy can have a gold star for their eco credentials. Pop in for gorgeous ceramics and soft furnishings or take in your treasured pieces for the bespoke upholstery treatment.
The Rounded House, Oundle
An Aladdin’s cave of loveliness, this beautiful store embodies everything we love about independent local businesses championing the power of bricks and mortar – whilst there’s an online store, it’s no match for the real thing. Plus there’s a whole other bit of the shop full of gorgeous clothes too.
