Half Term S.O.S

Half term is almost upon us! How? Why? Need some school holiday action for your little darlings? Fear not, Muddy is on hand to save what’s left of your sanity.

GET MUDDY

Searching for a kids’ club for your Duracell bunnies? Muddy Explorers returns to Evenley Wood Garden for two days of Forest Club (17-18 Feb), ideal if your kids love being outdoors, having adventures and letting off steam. Kids will leave feeling satisfyingly exhausted, having learnt shelter building, fire skills and natural arts and crafts, whilst you can relax in the knowledge that they will ravenous enough to eat all of their supper by the time you get them back. If you’re feeling the need to brave the chilly weather and escape the house with your little dynamos, National Trust Canons Ashby are hosting a week of half term activities for your minis, including a Bugs and Beasties Trail, bird feeder making, archeology handling and kids’ clay making.

Why not have a go at bottle feeding the newborn lambs at Westlodge Farm Lambing Festival in Desborough throughout half term week? Bottle feeding takes place 3 times a day and there is no need to pre-book.

Shiver me timbers! It’s Pirate Week at Sacrewell Farm, just over the Cambs border in Thornhaugh. Dress up as a pirate and search for buried treasure at this swashbuckling funfest, 15-23 Feb.

Deene Park near Corby is open on 16th and 23rd Feb for visitors to enjoy the pretty banks of snowdrops that are abundant during half term, perfect for letting the little horr… err, darlings run free and tire themselves out. You can take the family pooch here too, as long as they’re on a lead.

Only just in Bucks, but easy to reach if you’re in South Northants, National Trust Stowe have got a week of Nature Ninjas lined up to get their little minds ticking over while you enjoy the scenic vistas.

GET CRAFTY

Delapre Abbey has a week of witchcraft lined up at their School of Magic, with loads of activities for your little wizards including wand making and potions class (14-23 Feb). Wingardium Leviosa!

Cool and crafty kids will love Abington Park Museum’s Create your own Zine workshops (20 Feb), so let them get cutting and sticking to explore and design their personal brand! Please can they do one for grown-ups?

Rising chefs are going dough-nutty for the half term kids’ club at Whittlebury Bakery, where they can have fun, get messy and learn to make biscuits, bread and pastries to bring home for you to scoff.

GET CULTURED

Take your aspiring Rita Ora’s along to Corby Cube on Saturday 15th Feb for Starlight Dance and Musical Theatre School’s pop extravaganza, Starlight Dance: Generation XX.

Sweet family favourite The Tiger Who Came to Tea is on a the Castle Theatre in Wellingborough on St 15 Feb, perfect for younger children. As is the fun, singalong Three Billy Goats Gruff at The Lighthouse Theatre, Kettering on the 18th Feb.

The Wizard of Oz Holiday Project ay Royal and Derngate is a great immersive experience for kids if you’re juggling too many balls over half term (ditto, my friend) and on the look-out for a holiday club to keep them entertained and keep you sane(ish). Four days of creative confidence-building for your budding thespians.

GET TOGETHER

Fancy some fun as a family? Here’s one for the speed freaks, The Silverstone Experience has a fab kids’ trail, interactive cinema and a journey through the past, present and future of motor racing. Zoom!

Sound the adrenaline klaxon! Rides are open at Wicksteed Park for half term, plus there’s a new parrot attraction and the popular Clip ‘n Climb to challenge kids from 4 t0 14.

GET ACTIVE

The Weedon Project bouldering gym is running a half term Boulder Camp with hour-long sessions led by an experienced coach for both beginners and improvers with a mix of exercises and fun games.

Busy parents will be bouncing up and down for joy when they hear about Boost Trampoline Park’s half term holiday club. With a different theme for each day of the week including a circus day, pancake day and superheroes day, plus loads of fun crafty activities to go with each theme, your gang will be suitably worn out when you pick them up and having stayed warm and dry all day.
