The Griffin’s Head, Mears Ashby

Creative dishes served in a gastro style with plenty of drinks offerings to wash them down with. Excellent home-made sausage rolls and scotch eggs at the bar too.

The Griffin’s Head is a traditional village pub with cosy vibes serving great real ales, wines and (proper) gastro pub grub in a lovely, relaxed way. Located in Mears Ashby, it combines all the values of a classic English pub making you feel welcome as soon as you step into the restored historic inn.

The gastro style food is lovingly cooked with the kitchen rules being freshness and seasonality (we know the chef, food really is his passion). The menu board specials change daily, reflecting what’s currently in season. Anyone is welcome, families, friends and travelling foodies can all grab themselves a pint of real ale (with a homemade scotch egg) put their feet up, relax and enjoy.

The pub does more than just dish up incredible food; you can expect quizzes, live music and other events throughout the year. It’s great for a mid-week treat too with offers like Meat and Malbec every Tuesday where you can enjoy their signature steak and a glass of red for £35 a couple, or the Deer and Bear every Thursday where a pint of Nobby’s comes alongside a Venison sausage casserole – count us in!

The dining is relaxed and cosy and the pub is warmed by a log burner on the cooler days, and through the summer months you can take advantage and enjoy a G&T in the garden – there are plenty of local Northants blends to choose from.
