June Plum, Wellingborough
Muddy says: a Wellingborough hotspot bringing ultimate island vibes through perfectly spiced food and cool ass cocktails!
Formally known as Jamrock, this rebranded restaurant in Wellingborough is really spicing up our ‘hood (editor’s hood especially, living just under a mile away, nom). Now known as June Plum (very nice ladies), it brings island vibes to the town and the food is both homely AND adventurous (think lobster mac ‘n cheese washed down with quirky rum cocktails). The funky and colourful interior is welcoming and can accommodate large groups should the feeling take, or equally, it’s cosy enough for a romantic twosome. Everything is made from scratch using their own seasonings and sauces which will have you drooling just by reading the menu. Because alongside classics like tender curry goat, ackee and saltfish and jerk dishes topped with their famous hummingbird sauce, there’s off piste options like Caribbean burritos, Guinness and molasses marinated steaks and grilled garlic lobster. It’s a very kid friendly restaurant too with good selections for even the trickiest rugrat. Brunch and Sunday roasts are available and there’s also a calendar of live music to give diners that extra bit of entertainment (Muddy has one coming up very soon with the lead singer of HOT CHOCOLATE).
June Plum really are jerking up a storm and creating loads more deliciousness than ever; their vegan dishes are full of flavour and gaining local notoriety already. Owner Jodi, really knows her culinary craft and she and the team are super welcoming to anyone and everyone. People are travelling from all over the county to try June Plum’s dishes, making this a real destination hotspot (and a great asset for Wellingborough)! What are you waiting for?
