The Red Lion, Thornby
Muddy says: If you’re looking for a popular local with a friendly buzz and consistently tasty food; you might just have found it at this 400-year-old hostelry…
At 400 years old The Red Lion has everything you expect from a traditional country pub…and more. It’s a popular local with a friendly buzz; in 2018 it was named runner up in the Community Pub category in the Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food & Drinks Awards. The low ceilings and open fire give it a real cosy vibe, making you feel welcome as soon as you arrive. The fresh food menu changes every month to keep up with seasonal changes and allows the chefs to be creative (but you’ll always find their very popular steak, ale and stilton pie on the menu). The real ales are constantly changing so they can support both local breweries and some of the best national ales on offer and events like quizzes and Supper Clubs ensure The Red Lion is always keen to give customers something extra.
Oh, and did we mention there’s a place to rest your head? The converted Barn Accommodation is furnished to a high standard with all the comforts of home; the rooms are en-suite and a continental breakfast is provided too. So if you don’t want to be designated driver and fancy making night of it, sort a room out too. This family owned business with its scrummy food, supper clubs and real ales is a great choice for a relaxed and friendly trip out!
