We have a thing about churches being used for entertaining (mostly because they have great acoustics to sing out some Gloria Gaynor when we’ve had a tipple)! At The Church in Northampton, you can enjoy fine dining in a beautiful 12th century building right in the heart of the town centre. Known to many as St John’s Church, this grade 1 listed venue is in fact the oldest secular building in Northampton. In 2004/5, it underwent the refurbishment that made it into the superbly, atmospheric venue it is today. So stunning is it, many people choose it for their wedding, but it works equally well just for dinner. It’s recently been taken over by a new group, and word on the street is very promising. We dined there a couple of years ago when it won the coveted Muddy Stilettos Best Restaurant Award and it was great to look at, and eat at (we’re off to review the new set up asap, so watch this space)!
With a history of 860 years, this is a magical place to discover some of the finest food options in Northampton. From their lunch menu to their luxurious A La Carte and Vegan menu, everyone can enjoy a delicious meal in this exquisite building. Also be sure to keep an eye on their regular offers like gin nights and steak nights (check online for dates and prices). The Sunday lunch menu has also been raved about, with a fantastic choice of different meats and a veggie option. The Church really is a restaurant coup for Northampton town centre and we think when you’ve been, you’ll agree!
