The Plough, Everdon
A newly renovated gourmet gastropub where seasonal, locally sourced produce is second only to an impressively curated wine list.

After a long hiatus of more than three years, The Plough, a wonderfully quaint country pub and restaurant, re-opened its doors in the summer of ’23 thanks to one of our favourite gourmet power couples, Sarah and David Webster (formerly of The Fox and Hounds in Charwelton), who have lovingly restored the pub to an impressively high standard both inside and out.
There’s a great, foodie menu here, which celebrates native rare breeds and heritage fruit and vegetables. You can anticipate flour from Northamptonshire or Oxfordshire for the twice daily made breads, native rare breeds from right here in the village and regular deliveries of fresh seafood sourced from small family boats in Cornwall, Colchester and Scotland.
The wine list is outstanding, with close to 200 wines on offer, with careful consideration given to sustainability and organic wines. Rest assured you’re in good hands, David was formerly a Sommelier at Le Manoir and he knows his stuff.
You can also book private dining and chefs table experiences for something extra special, plus there are monthly supper clubs and live music events and the lovely pub garden boasts splendiferous views to enjoy with a pint of shandy.
