A Christmas light switch on, or merely the effect of three glasses of seasonal Champagne?

There are numerous Northamptonshire High Streets that are 3-2-1 ready for the “BIG” switch on. Which ones will you be wrapping up for (on the promise of a Hot Toddy to warm you back up)?  We’ll be adding to this list as soon as details become available…

Higham Ferrers

WHEN: Market Square, Higham Ferrers, 19 November

TIME: 11am – 6pm

WHAT ELSE: This is the infamous Christmas Sparkle event – The Continental Market in College Street, Father Christmas in Chichele College’s Winter Wonderland, street entertainment for adults and childrens; face painting at Wilson Browne’s offices – means there will be loads going on for everyone to enjoy. Mulled Wine and Refreshments on the Market Square and in the Bede House, and of course, Christmas crafts and gifts to buy all over the town.

Northampton

WHEN: Market Square, Thursday 17 November

TIME: 6pm

WHAT ELSE: Heart FM will start the countdown and EastEnders star John Partridge, along with his pantomime pals from the Royal & Derngate and the Deco.

Kettering

WHEN: Market Place, Thursday 24 November

TIME: 5 – 7pm

WILL IT BE LYNDSAY LOHAN?  Hmmm.   Apparently her advisors are “trying to align schedules”, but not to worry it could be Cheryl Fergison (former Eastenders actress) doing the honours.  Not quite the same is it?

Olney

WHEN: High St, 4 December

TIME: From 10am – 4pm

WHAT ELSE: Traders dressed in Victorian clothes will pack Olney’s Market Place and High Street with stalls offering treats for your festive table and under the tree. Everything from an array of gifts, holly wreaths and wrapping to handmade crafts. Sample delicious mulled wine, hot chocolate and turkey rolls as well as other tasty food and drink on the day. The Farmers market offers delicious local produce.

Oundle

WHEN: Saturday 3 December

TIME: 5.30pm

WHAT ELSE:  The event will be part of the Oundle Christmas Market  that runs from 12 noon to 7pm

Rushden

WHEN: High Street, Saturday 26 November

TIME: 4.30 (Approx)

WHAT ELSE: Titan the Robot will be performing the first of  3 shows earlier in the day at 12.15pm. There will be a good mix of music, by Nathan, local DJ and the Victory Doll singer, plus a school choir provided by South End School. Local group Melodies Theatre Academy will be performing, as will the local Zumba dance class. At 1pm Santa will be arriving on his sleigh, again pulled by real reindeer, which proved a great attraction for the children last year. This year however, he will see a brand new Grotto where he will give out presents to the children until around 4pm. (Gifts for the children will be free).

Thrapston Christmas Lights Festival

WHEN: Saturday, 26 November 2016

TIME:15.30-18.30pm

WHAT ELSE: Amazing live entertainment event featuring fairground rides, side stalls, a live music stage, seasonal street food and hog roast from local traders, street acts, character appearances, painting. Meet & Greet Santa and the ‘switch on’ of Thrapston’s Christmas Lights.

Wellingborough

WHEN: Saturday, 26 November 2016

TIME: 13:30 – 18:15

WHAT ELSE: Probably me with mulled wine in hand and a bit of snazzy tinsel round my hair : )
