Muddy hearts Rebecca Blake
When I plump up the cushions on the sofa, light a scented candle, and curl up with a book, I feel so content. Scent for the soul.
I have a weakness. Not a weakness like Superman and Kryptonyte, but a weakness that has, over the years, made a severe dent in my bank balance. Scented candles! It’s like burning money, as my old Dad frequently says. But do you know what, when I plump up the cushions on the sofa, light a scented candle, and curl up with a book, I feel so content that I’d pay double for them; and there’s none more than these beauties that I’d be happy to shell out for again and again!
The Rebecca Blake Candle & Diffuser Collection was born out of a passion for fragrance and Clinical Aromatherapist Catherine Lewak is the face behind the name. She trained at The Institute of Traditional of Herbal Medicine & Aromatherapy in London Regents Park College and has over 15 years experience in the fragrance industry working with clients from all over the world. She is based in Lincolnshire, but I met her at Pipewell Hall, beautifully touting her wares to the Northants set, who all seemed mightily impressed!
The name Rebecca Blake was chosen because it was Catherine’s great grandmother, who, through her hard work and dedication throughout her life inspired Catherine to embark on the business of making exotic scented candles (she has very high and exacting standards, which were evident when my order arrived all tissue wrapped and gorgeous along with candle etiquette instructions).
The Candles are all made from soy wax which is cleaner burning, does not contain toxins, carcinogens or pollutants which means it’s less likely to trigger allergies. It’s also longer lasting and burns cooler which means that you can enjoy it for generally 30-50% longer than a paraffin candle. I plumped for a Lime Basil & Mandarin candle (gorgeously fresh and light) and a Grapefruit Orange & Lemon Peel Diffuser (LOVE the scent of this and it’s a really economical way to make the house smell delish).
Rebecca Blake offers a range of candle sizes to suit the room size, for large rooms with high ceilings there’s a 4 wick candle (this is what I plumped for). For smaller rooms there’s a standard candle and for wee spaces such as the cloak room or the bathroom, there is the travel candle (over the years of working away, scented candles have made me feel less home sick in many an anonymous hotel room).
The candles are available online and also from a number of high end boutiques, spas and restaurants in the UK. A lovely little touch that Rebecca Blake offers, is a full service for wedding favours so you can treat your guests with a scented soy wax candle as a wedding favour, a lasting reminder of your special day. And obviously I don’t need to tell you that scented candles are a gorgeous Christmas gift (don’t tell Mr Muddy, but I’m sure he’s going to love this year’s pressie, which I’ve dictated shall live in the bathroom. Well, he needs a little direction ; )
