Wouldn’t you though?
When I first managed to get my then boyfriend (now the current Mr Muddy) up to the Shires from London, we went for a day date in Northampton and I lost him to another for the whole afternoon. The Abraxas Cookshop fluttered its kitchen storage ideas and shook its spatulas and the man was smitten.
The original Abraxas Cookshop opened in 1996 at the beautifully restored and renovated Heart of The Shires Shopping Village (built in 1867 and in its former days a model working Victorian farm, the shopping village is now home to over twenty retail outlets). The company has since opened branches in Rugby Warwickshire, Banbury Oxfordshire and Northampton town centre (yes that one, vying for my loved one’s attention). To be fair they’re no ordinary cook shops, they cater for everyone who loves cooking and entertaining, from the enthusiastic beginner to the professional chef. The Heart of the Shires shop is situated on the top floor of a 3000 sq ft dutch barn, stocking every item imaginable from a pastry brush to state-of-the art coffee machines, cookware, bakeware, knives, electricals, gadgets, utensils and kitchen work stations (if you want a more comprehensive explanation, Mr Muddy will delight in regaling it all to you). Most items are desirable enough to feature on a Wouldn’t You Though? But today the KitchenAid Artisan Food Mixer has won out as the ultimate cooking tool.
Designed for high performance home mixing, this (quite frankly, very sexy) food prep machine gives fantastic results time after time (even for someone as easily distracted as me – squirrel!).There are more details on what it does here and check out the vast array of colours available (tangerine anyone?). There are over 20 hues, so whatever your kitchen style, there’s definitely one to suit.
The mixers were retailing at £419.99 but are currently on offer at £377.99 – not a bad discount at all. If this is a touch on the expensive side just before summer hols, I would still recommend making a trip to one of the stores because there is a lot there to browse (honestly, an hour will pass before you know it) and the shops are just so god damn pretty. And if Muddy wasn’t already a convert, the fact that Abraxas are also finalists in FOUR categories of The Excellence in Housewares Awards 2016 would swing us over for a visit! If you’re too busy to get out for a browse, don’t worry, there’s online shopping too!
