Winners celebrate in style – Muddy Awards

We did it, we voted for our favourite Northants lifestyle businesses across 27 categories and generated tens of thousands of votes. We created winners, and we met some fantastic people along the way.  We celebrated in true Muddy style at Cranford Hall (hospitality amazing, and well worth a visit). I’m not sure they quite knew what hit it on Friday as we staged a Muddy takeover for the Awards Winners’ drinks! All I know is that everyone seemed to have a great time, enjoyed delicious fizz and nibbles, and made some new friends. Nearly all the winning businesses made it to the party (for those of you who were off to Florida, we missed you) and once we’d all got over the gob-smacking gorgeousness of the venue, we relaxed and had a really fun couple of hours (a few of you suggested early evening for next year, I can’t think why, hiccup)!

There were delish canapes from last year’s award winners Bread & Pullet alongside fellow winners Friars Farm – who brought along their scrummy chutneys, sauces and liqueurs. The sweet delights of The Biscuiterie topped off the menu (with cookie dipping stilettos). All that food was washed down with some great local drink  with the glorious gals at Fizz76 and their prosecco van quenching our thirst.

3Cs Cider, pretty new on the Muddy radar, were there with their local cider and it was gorgeous and Warner Edwards Distillery kindly stocked the gin bar. Guests were serenaded with the musical talents of Sara, The Ukulele Lady (as seen on Later with Jools Holland) and the talented Rachel Cadby, our photographer for the afternoon captured all the best bits (as you can see). Cranford was decked out beautifully thanks to our floral friend Rockabilly Rose and the creative crew at Event Buddy (UK), a super stylish lot who created the perfect party backdrop!

But it was the winners who had the biggest smiles, and here they are in all their technicolor glory…

Top left to right (clockwise), The Saxon Tavern, Bell of Northampton, Royal & Derngate, Neil Irving (Chrysalis)

And last but not least Rockabilly Rose who was last on camera having attended to a glorious display of flowers!

So, all in all a whole heap of fun and thanks to everyone who made a special effort to come! There were winners from all over the county, from big towns like Northampton but also smaller outlying villages like Earls Barton, Desborough, Farthinghoe and Harrington. But notably, a particular hot bed of talent was south-west of the county in Brackley, definitely worth a visit Mudsters. But then again, all the winners are, so please try and pop along and use their services over the coming months. I know they’d be delighted to see you, and they are winners for a reason! That goes for all our finalists actually, because there were some brilliant last minute tussles for first place and it was really gutting for some of them to have missed out by just a couple of votes in some cases. There are some wonderful Northamptonshire entrepreneurs out there, and although they couldn’t all win, we’re going to make every effort to meet everybody who was nominated for the 2017 awards, and share with all the Muddy readers why this county is so fantastic to live in.

And to finish…with so many people taking part in the award voting we now have even more Muddies to entertain. And you know what they say? 26,000 heads are better than one – so keep the good ideas coming, you are always welcome to peruse the blog whenever you want inspiration, or just see what’s new in our fair county. With new editorial uploaded almost daily, and a newsletter to boot, this Muddy will carry on bringing you all that’s best about living in Northants.
