Superflashy news: all the local goss
We've been keeping our ear to the ground to bring you the latest happenings in food, life and good times. Here’s what’s going on in Northants this month...
One of our very favourite Northants institutions, Hamm Tun Deli, run by Rachael and Gary Bradshaw and home to the addictively good and award-winning Cobblers Nibble cheese, is opening a second shop at another amazing Northants institution, Whittlebury Park. Currently based in the bustling village of Long Buckby, this fantastic local business is expanding, with the new location to include a farm shop, deli and cafe, where you’ll be able to grab your groceries, local produce, coffee and yummy cooked food. Can’t wait for this one to open in mid-November.
KEEPING IT RETRO
We’re also super excited about the opening on Vinyl Coffee in Kettering on St 30 Oct… We’ve loved their brilliant pop-ups at Rushden Lakes over the past few months, so will definitely be regular visitors to the cool new cafe and record store.
From archeology to artisan produce, Chester House Estate heritage site, between Irchester and Rushden Lakes, has finally opened its doors to the public this week. There’s a farmhouse kitchen restaurant, kitchen garden, kids play areas, shopping courtyard and a visitors centre as well as miles of walks to explore.
It’s all happening at Whittlebury Park, as they’re also set to launch their festive afternoon teas in November. Guests can indulge in sweet and savoury yuletide treats including coconut and white chocolate snowballs, a Black Forest yule log, mince pies and chocolate Brussel sprouts. Check out the full menu and book here.
Fireworks and flame-grilled feasts? Don’t mind if we do. The Old Woodyard is a brand new outdoor dining destination at Fleur Fields vineyard, overlooking Pitsford Water, where you can expect adventurous outdoor events including a spectacular bonfire night extravaganza on 5 Nov, with burgers courtesy of Burnt Lemon Chefs, warming cocktails from Jelley’s Organic Vodka, puds from the Brooklyn Brownie Co. and a fabulous fireworks display. Kids are welcome, with under 12s FOC, plus you can buy a bundle of 4 tickets for £70.
We’re super excited about a the newly opened East lodge Open Farm in Ecton, part of the Thomas Farm Shop and East Lodge Equestrian Centre empire. The working family farm has just opened its doors to the public with indoor and outdoor play areas, farm animals, small animals and a cafe serving barista coffee from Northants based The Roastery. Perfect for entertaining your little ones and they even offer kids birthday parties too.
