Bringing happiness through baking to Northampton.
Spreading a little love, bake by bake, The Little Bakery of Happiness is the latest addition to Wellingborough’s Nene Court Shopping Village. They will be opening their doors on Friday 2nd August and welcome you in to experience their love and passion for baking. The Little Bakery of Happiness was established in 2013 all from a Northampton home kitchen and is now made up of two award winning businesses, The Happy Little Cake Company and Most Marvellous Baking that have partnered and re branded. The bakery prides in being a gluten-free bakery allowing people with intolerance and diseases to enjoy great tasting treats. They have now gone onto winning some awards including British Pie, Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards, Free From Food and Great Taste Awards to name a few.
Canoe 2 – new addition, Sammy
Say hello to the latest addition at Canoe2, Sammy. This is a new trip & accommodation option for all of you water lovers out there and the guys at Canoe2 are all really excited to get you onboard. Set sail on the water with the latest multi day adventure where you will get a wonderful part of the river, two nights stay in the beautiful narrowboat, which is ideal for a group of 4, transport and baggage transfer back at the end of your stay and the narrowboat has everything you need to cook up a delicious meal and morning fry-up. Coffee Cocktails, yumbles
If you think coffee and cocktails aren’t the best match, you’re in for a surprise. The popular gin bar, Gin & Temple on St Giles Street launched their new menu after being open now for 6 months. The new cocktails are aiming to combine two of the nation’s favourite drinks, coffee and gin to make some exciting and unique cdrinkies. The cocktails include Espresso Gintini, Dry Cortada, Frappugino and Cappugino to name a few, and the coffee comes from Northampton’s very own Yellow Bourbon Coffee on Angel Street in the town centre. The team at Gin & Temple are so excited for you guys to try their new creations so be sure to follow their social media pages to find out all the gossip and latest additions.
Charles Bradlaugh voted County Pub of the Year
If you haven’t visited The Charles Bradlaugh on Earl Street just in the Town Centre pop it in your diary! We really mean it, as it’s been named County Pub of the Year in the The National Pub & Bar Awards.national awards, well done! The pub has a large beer garden, a recently launched vegan menu, a wide range of drinks from ales to cocktails and regularly has evenings of live music and entertainment. The atmosphere is a perfect way to spend an evening with friends before hitting the town, so what you waiting for? If you haven’t visited yet be sure to see what all the fuss is about and get your groove on before a night on the town.
Long Buckby welcomes new coffee shop
Pohutukawa has recently opened its doors in Long Buckby, an ecofriendly New Zeland inspired coffee shop, located on the High Street. It’s not been open long but it’s already getting rave reviews from customers who say the atmosphere is perfect to relax with a delicious drink and a bite to eat. The coffee comes Ozone, a New Zealand roaster in London and from the sounds of it, people love it (New Zealand coffee has never been hipper). It is a family run business and they would love you all to pay a visit, say hello and try out their delicious menu (it’s a real special gem that’s already made it into our Little black Book of fab businesses).
Cineworld at Rushden Lakes Grand Opening
If you think Rushden Lakes couldn’t get any better, think again. The brand spanking new Cineworld has just opened. There’s a bunch of screens, 14 to be exact, showing 2D and 3D films, and the best one of them all, their immersive cinema experience, 4DX. This the world’s first multi-projection 270-degree cinema technology, so it’s pretty special if you ask us. Inside the complex there’s a Starbucks for you to enjoy and Baskin Robbins, so be sure to check it ALL out when you’re next down there.
Rename and relaunch for Wellingborough Restaurant
Remember the band Hot Chocolate? Well Kennie Simon gave guests a lil’ performance to celebrate the relaunch and rebrand of former Jamrock Food in Cambridge Street which has now been renamed June Plum. A successful Anglo-Caribbean restaurant, Jodi Murdoch started the business a few years ago and has undertaken the relaunch to expand the business and attract different types of customers (she also does some awesome catering for weddings and the like). The relaunch comes with a brand spanking new menu, bursting with traditional Island dishes, but has also added some vibrant vegan and gluten-free dishes. So if you’re ever around the area and looking for tasty food with some exotic cocktails, June Plum’s the place for you!
New stylish Artisan café opened in Brackley
Found at the old railway station this new hang out is already seeing customers love what they do! Handmade is the order of the day and they have a selection of vegan friendly and gluten free cakes which are supplied by Fannie-Anne’s (vegan bakery). Whether it’s a coffee, cake and a catch up with a friend or a place to spend an hour or two working, the atmosphere is super relaxed and chilled and you can enjoy a warm and friendly experience. If you’re out and about with your pooch, they are more than welcome too and there’ll be water and biscuits waiting for them.
Hamm Tun Fine Foods open new deli
Founded in 2013 by Gary Bradshaw, Hamm Tun Fine Foods is all about the cheese! Northampton isn’t just famous for shoes, The Saints and Carlsberg, but also good old cheese which inspired Gary’s venture. He keeps it all local and prides himself on being sustainable. The milk he uses is sourced locally and as soon as the milk has arrived, the work begins (Northampton Blue and Cobbler’s Nibble are delish). And landing at 28 High Street in Long Buckby is the new deli that sells all of their cheeses amongst other local produce (they’re currently looking for suppliers so they can sell their yummy offerings in the deli – so get in touch if you produce amazing foodie/drinky things).
Former Strictly Come Dancing dancer Kristina Rihanoff lands in Northampton Town Centre with a brand new yoga destination located at Sol Central. Working with her husband, rugby star and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Ben Cohen, they have created a beautiful yoga spot aimed at everyone to improve wellbeing for all ages and abilities. With seven studios including a hot yoga studio as well as an onsite vegan café, Soo Greens, there’s even a creche area. You can take part in their choice of yoga classes, spin classes and dance classes, no matter how skilled you are already. Soo Yoga looks soo cool!
We all love a mooch around MOOCH
Towcester welcomes the latest edition to the MOOCH family, recently opening its doors to keep those gorgeous gifts coming to the west of the county. MOOCH, if you don’t already know, is a beautiful gift shop that sells lovely and quirky bits and pieces great for gifts or a treat to yourself. You’re bound to find something you will fall in love with (we do quite often), which makes MOOCH so special (that, and it’s won the Muddy Stilettos Award for best Gift Shop several times). MOOCH also has two stores in Northampton and one in Olney and their online shop is always open (though you won’t get to meet the LOVELY staff this way).
Popular Northampton pub gets a face lift
I’m pretty sure if you ask anyone local, they will have once eaten or drank in this lovely pub at some point; but exciting times, The Fox & Hounds in Harlestone is undergoing a makeover and it looks blooming lovely. We can’t wait to see it when it reopens on 13th July with a brand spanking new look. They are transforming the pub as you once knew it into a brand-new country dining experience after doing months of interior design research and developing a new, curated menu with hopes to showcase the best food the country has to offer. The new look is screaming luxury and why wouldn’t it? They have a lead designer Zoe who has a real passion for innovative design and knows all about the upcoming trends so it’s going to look amazing, we just know it! Their design story is being updated regularly on their socials so check it out for a sneak peek and book in to be one of the first to see the transformation.
Aritsan Baby Co launches in Northampton
Mums and best friends Claire and Gemma from Northamptonshire have announced the launch of a new and exciting online baby and toddler platform as well as hosting regular fairs at a variety of locations in the Northamptonshire area. Artisan Baby Co Fair, which kicks off on Sat 28 July at Delapre Abbey, invites all Mums and Mums-to-be along to discover a variety of independent and unique brands and retailers that focus on nourishment and enrichment. It aims to create awareness for smaller independent retailers, so brownie points too. At the events you can expect a whole bunch of things to do and see from free tasters, talks from experts, food and drink stalls and a lovely boho picnic area to enjoy. There will also be support, education and guidance for parents to help you enjoy most of your time of being a parent. This is the first event of many, with more to come.
