Studio founder and former Strictly pro dancer Kristina Rihanoff recently put me through my paces and I can confirm it was the most fun I’ve had all year. So, if you fancy hanging upside down in a variety of supported postures using sashes and straps, be quick and book on to the six week course running on Tuesdays 11.30-12.30 from 18 May -22 June. It’s amazing for getting some really deep stretches and working on core strength too.
Not ready for the summer bikini reveal quite yet, or just feeling like you need a boost? No sweat: yogi and nutritionist extraordinaire Harry Hewetson’s fantastic 7 day detox diet is getting even deeper next month, with a 14 day guided program beginning on 7 June. It’s a great way to reset and restart your system and dietary habits after what has been a year of way to many takeaways, and biscuit binges (who, me?). You get loads of really helpful info and support from Harry including recipes, meal plans, lifestyle tips, daily live videos and streamed exercise sessions, plus the support of a WhatsApp group for everyone taking part if you need it. You can read all about my detox journey with Harry here and book your place on the course here. Sign up before Sun 23 May for £20 off.
The brilliant team at The Red Lion gastropub in Yardley Hastings, which boldly and briefly opened at the end of 2020 before pivoting to serve the community with speciality takeaways and an amazing shop selling local produce, are expanding their empire. Owners Dave and Nate have taken on The Fox in Thorpe Waterville, which is due to open in June under Head Chef Emma Fowkes. We are so here for more of that trademark funky flair, gourmet delights and locally sourced produce.
New dino-themed restaurant Jurassic Grill at Rushden Lakes is set to open its doors to the public next week. It’s squarely aimed at families and we all know that if your kids are happy then you can relax after a hard day’s shopping. Your little palaeontologists will love the fun menu, which includes a Where’s The Goat? burger and Footprint Pizza. Now, if we can just have Jeff Goldblum waiting tables then book me in asap.
Hoverboards at the ready: actual real live music is back! The McFly boys are set to play an open air gig at Wicksteed Park in Kettering on Fri 27 August, with Craig David headlining the following evening (he’s chilling on Sunday…). If you’ve been missing live music and summer thrills as much as we have both concerts look set to be epic – sign up for tickets here.
