ART: Monochrome v Colour Exhibition, 10AM-12:30PM Monday to Saturday throughout November, Rothwell Arts Heritage Centre, 14 – 16 Bridge Street, Rothwell, Northamptonshire NN14 6JW

With Christmas just around the corner, this marvellous museum is selling some lovely pottery by Stella Benford and cards by Caroline Duffield. Hold your horses though, as it doesn’t end there! Watercolor Paintings by Richard Chapman, gouche and Indian ink paintings by Anna De La Marie, and oil and watercolor paintings by resident artist Peter Watts, are all up for grabs at a fab price.

BONFIRE: The explosive retelling of the Gunpowder Plot, Boughton House, Kettering, NN14 1BJ, Sat 3 Nov 2018 to Mon 5 Nov 2018

An explosive new re-telling of the story of The Gunpowder Plot will have its world premiere at Boughton House this November as the completely reimagined show is back with a bang. Leicester theatre company MBD has put together an all-new score, script, choreography and animation to be staged in the grounds of the stately home on Saturday 3rd and Monday 5th November. Certainly a true feast for the senses this November! Tickets can be bought through the home’s website.

ARTS AND CRAFTS: Bath Bomb craft night, Bay Tree Cottage, Farthingstone, Towcester, Northamptonshire NN12 8HE, Wednesday 7th Nov

Join Fiona Forbes to learn how to make and decorate your own bath bombs, it’s pretty brillo. The class runs from 7-9:30 pm at £24.50 per person and is suitable for children aged 12 and above. Why not make the bath bombs for the perf xmas prezzy, whether it be for a Mudlet, secret santa, or even a treat for yourself?

MUSIC: ‘The Fermi Paradox’ by Paul K, released 9th November

Hailing from Weldon on the Northamptonshire-Rutland border, Paul K experiments with samples and prog-rock synths for the upcoming release of ‘The Fermi Paradox’, which follows his debut album ‘Omerta’. Using samples from cosmologists, tune in for a quirky and relaxing listen, that will have you racing like the space race for more.

COMEDY: Elephant in the Room Comedy, Fri 9th Nov, 7:30 pm doors open, The Retro Room at Vintage Retreat Northamptonshire NN1 2JL

Why not ditch the Mudlets (bonus alert-  it is an 18+ event) for an evening of laughs starring Chris Betts, Mark Cram, Jack Topher, Dimitri Bakanov and The Monks. Tables can even be booked for larger party groups. So sit back, relax, enjoy the bar and expect plenty of LOL moments for only £9- seems like a pretty fun deal to me? Get booking that babysitter pronto.

THEATRE: Circus Of Horrors 9th November, Steve Bugeja 9th November and Les McKeown’s Bay City Rollers on 10th November, all at The Core, Corby Cube.

The Corby Cube theatre is certainly at the core of spectacular show offerings. If you still haven’t had a strong enough dose of fright from Halloween, the Circus of Horrors (7:30 pm, 9th Nov) promises to be a show filled with bizarre, brilliant and brave acts. Tickets for the Psycho Asylum can be bought online, with the same applying for the other shows. If this doesn’t take your fancy, then go for giggles and buy tickets for Steve Bugeja’s biggest comedy tour to date. Having contributed to Mock The Week, Russell Howard’s Good News and even 8 out of 10 cats, his show is set to be the funniest and most confessional one yet. Finally, Les McKeown’s Bay City Rollers return to The Core at Corby Cube on Saturday 10th November with their thrilling show, The Story of The Bay City Rollers, that has been taking UK theatres by storm. The band will perform songs that influenced the original group as they were forging their way in the music business, as well as all the Rollers’ hits, including Bye Bye Baby, Summer Love Sensation and Shang A Lang to name just a few. The entertainment on offer at the Core at Corby Cube is not to be overlook this November!

MUSIC: Fanfare, Northampton Symphony Orchestra, Sat 10th Nov 7:30 pm, Saint Matthew’s Church, The Drive, Kingsley, Northampton, Northamptonshire NN14

2018/19 marks the 125th season for the Northampton Symphony Orchestra. As one of the nation’s oldest amateur symphony orchestra, they are kicking off the season with a Fanfare. Featuring Halvorsen’s Entry March of the Boyars, Dvorak’s Cello Concerto and Copland’s stunning Third Symphony. They will also be joined by Yaroslava Trofymchuck on Cello. Adult tickets will cost £14. Visit their website for more info. 

FESTIVAL: Vegan Fest, Sat 10th Nov, The Retro Room Vintage Retreat , Lower Harding Street Northampton, Northamptonshire NN1 2JL, 11AM-4PM

Hipster alert!! The Retro Room Vintage Retreat is hosting a Vegan Fest this Sat to celebrate all things Vegan , championing local businesses and bringing you the best in sweet and savory foods from Indian to Traditional British Fayre. There will also be skincare and home products on offer all to be enjoyed with live music throughout the day. Also, it’s FREE ENTRY! Go on, embrace those vegan vibes.

FESTIVAL: Northampton Winter Food Festival, 10th-11th November (10AM – 5pm, 10AM- 4pm), the County Cricket Ground Northampton

This foodie fest will have over 80 food, drink and gift stalls for you to browse; chef demos, free wine and gin tasting sessions, culinary talks, hot street food and mulled cider and wine to warm your inner xmas spirit. This year however it wouldn’t feel wintry without some fresh air, so there is an open-air street food market and hot drink stalls selling artisan coffee, boozy hot chocolate and hot toddies around the boundary edge. Buy tickets in advance online to save a few precious pennies on the day.

MARKET: Stoke Bruenre Floating Market, Sat 10th – Sun 11th, 10am – 4pm, Stoke Bruerne Grand Union Canal Northamptonshire NN12 7SE

Fun for all the family, this day out in Stoke Bruerne offers a unique Christmas shopping experience as traders sell  their items on boats along the Grand Union Canal. Be sure to check it out and avoid that sinking feeling when you miss out on a bargain! Visit this website for more info.
