Enjoy live music every Sunday afternoon from 2pm – 5pm at the Abington Park bandstand and be surrounded by the relaxing and beautiful environment of the park.

FILM: Northampton Filmhouse, throughout Sep and Oct

Brilliant new independent films this season include the thought provoking drama The Wife, Anton Chekhov adaptation The Seagull and introspective drama Lucky. The cinema continues to present the best big new releases, including heist drama King of Thieves, as well as Damien Chazelle’s Neil Armstrong biopic First Man. The classics offering includes a selection of films celebrating Black History Month in the UK this October. The programme of event cinema features screenings of top class drama, ballet and opera. They’ve also announced a new series of screenings aimed at welcoming even more 16-25 year-olds into the cinema, thanks to support from the BFI Film Audience Network – one for the not so little Mudlets!

EVENT: Heritage Open Days, Thurs 6 – Sun 9 Sep

Over 30 historic buildings, churches and Venues across Northampton will be open to the public from free as part of the national Heritage Open Days event. It’s an opportunity to explore some of the town’s unique historic buildings, many of which are usually restricted. Guided tours are also on offer as well as other activities taking place around the town.

EVENT: An Evening with Teddy Sheringham, Castle Theatre, Fri 7 Sep

Football fans can spend an evening in the company of Teddy Sheringham, an English born footballer who boasts a 25-year playing career. Teddy will be talking about his great career and giving audiences an insight of what his life was like with some fantastic stories on Fri 7 Sep, 8pm.

ART: Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up, Victoria & Albert Museum, London, now – Nov 4

The V&A Museum will explore more than 200 personal objects that belonged to Frida Kahlo, one of the most recognised and significant artists and women of the 20th century, fashioned her identity. The Mexican artist’s belongings were locked away by her husband when she died and are being exhibited outside Mexico for the first time. From her ‘Ebony’ eyebrow pencil and beautifully embroidered clothes to a painted prosthetic leg, this exhibition is fascinating to say the least.
