What’s on this week

There's loads just starting to warm up for summer in a socially distanced way. Here's our pick of stuff to get up to this week.

FILM

Movies by the lake stanwick lakes

It’s THE socially distanced activity of the summer and outdoor and drive-in cinema has very much arrived in the shire. Kicking off this weekend, Delapré Abbey plays host to a summer season of movies from Northampton Filmhouse including Jurassic Park, Mary Poppins, Paddington and The Lego Movie among many others.

Movies by the Lake is an outdoor cinema event in the gorge surroundings of Stanwick Lakes, with Moana and Dirty Dancing on the bill this weekend. Bring your picnic blanket and a bottle of fizz.

FOOD AND DRINK

Bite Street artisan street food

Bite Street street food fest returns to Duston Mill this Friday and Saturday, packed full of vendors including The Little Punjab Co., The Jerk Box and Little Urban BBQ. There’s a new grassy picnic area for safe social distancing, and entry will be by pre-booked ticket only.

EVENTS AND FESTIVALS

Easter Bunny Hunt Evenley Wood Garden

The Easter Bunny is late for a very important date. If your Mudlets were gutted to miss out on their annual Easter egg hunt this year, then they will love this. Clever old Evenley Wood Garden have laid on (geddit?) an Easter Eggstravaganza to make up for it from 23-26 July. Just make sure the chocolate all gets gobbled up before it melts in the sunshine.

Naseby Summer Vintage Festival takes place on 25-26th July with social distancing measures in place. There are loads of fun family activities and stalls from pet and farm animals to antiques and salvage, wellbeing, artisan food and drink, local producers and home decor. Sounds like the perfect way to spend a summer’s day.

FITNESS AND WELLBEING

Kristina Rihanoff Soo yoga

Step away from the custard creams. If you’ve been slouching about in your activewear all lockdown (who, moi?) I’m afraid there are no more excuses. Gyms will be back open again from this weekend, so here’s our pick. They’ve valiantly kept on streaming classes via Zoom since March, which will continue to run, but now Kristina, Ben and the team from Soo Yoga will be stretching gently back into their beautiful studios at Sol Central to bring you yoga, pilates, spin and bodyweight classes in real life as well as scrumptious health food from their airy and spacious on-site cafe, Soo Greens. You can book all your Soo Yoga classes easily via their smartphone app. Soo easy…

Muddy faves Ironstone Wellbeing in Kettering continue to run free online classes as well as outside, socially distanced classes for just £8 per session and you can book online or through their app. Studio sessions will resume on 3 August.

River Spirit SUP in Ringstead are re-starting their mega popular SUP yoga this Saturday from 9-11am with further dates to be announced soon. This is a perfect way to connect to yourself and the gorgeous natural surroundings, whilst also giving yourself a pretty good core workout. Win win.

Recalibrate and create space in your mind with yoga and qi gong this Sunday at 10am at Evenley Wood Garden. There is definitely something special about taking time to focus on you in this beautiful outside space.
