Hart Family Brewers present a Christmas Wine Tasting, Hind Hotel, 7.30pm, 9 December

I see wine, I see beer, I see gin and I see a lady in a green dress alongside Rob and Sarah. It must be Christmas, right?

You probably think that Hart Family Brewers only win awards for their rather special ales, but did you know that Rob and Sarah Hart are also very well qualified in the wine department too? In fact they won the first 2016 Muddy Award Best Wine shop and we applaud them for all that and more. This Christmas they’re putting on a very special wine tasting at the Hind Hotel in Wellingborough giving us the opportunity to taste over 30 handpicked wines and put our own cases of wine together. Clever them. It’ll be an informal and fun social space and is limited, so bag your tickets asap.  There’ll also be a selection of sweet wines, fortified and spirits to really make it a Christmas treat as well as a few nibbles. You’ll be able to place orders on the night for your Christmas wine selection (5% discount on the night and 10% for Hart’s BEERCLUB members). Tickets – £10.84 adult. Contact [email protected]

Beauty and the Beast – Lighthouse Theatre, 10 December – 2 January

I see beauty only. Nothing beastly to see here.

Whilst we debated whether Lyndsay would be turning on the lights, “standby” Cheryl Fergison was getting on with her day job as Malevolent alongside the hilarious Potty Pierre played by Mark Pearce. They are joined by Lucie Downer as Beauty, Claire Rickard as Fairy Formidable and Kettering’s favourite panto dame Michael Neilson playing Dame Dotty. From the team that brought you last year’s smash hit success Jack and the Beanstalk, once again the team at The Lighthouse promise you an epic panto that will make your family Christmas complete!” For performance times and prices, check the website as the team are putting a really flexible timetable of performances to suit everyone!!

Thankfully this is the one by Charles Dickens. Phew

The Core at Corby will be transformed with candles, mince pies, mulled wine, carols and some ghostly goings-on!  And as well as their usual stalls and circle seating for A Christmas Carol, you can also choose to sit on the stage for this production, placing yourself even closer to the action.
