New Years Day Brunch, Wednesday 1st January, The Woburn Hotel.

Kick off 2020 with a delicious brunch at the lovely Woburn Hotel. A great menu with lots of options including salads, sandwiches and lots more hearty wholesome dishes.

Northampton Railway Mince Pie Specials, Wednesday 1st January, Northampton and Lamport Railway. 

Travel through the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside with a glass of sherry and mince pie. The journey is one and a half miles of beautiful countryside and leaves Pitsford & Brampton Station.

Wine Tasting, Friday 10th January, Decant Wine and Cheese Deli.

Relax over a great selection of 5 wines as you enjoy cheeses to compliment and a full menu of great food with a 15% discount. Tickets are £16pp, a lovely way to see friends after the festive holiday.

The first one of 2020, with lots more to come throughout the year, Magazine Heaven are back hosting their brilliant evening of delicious tapas and live music from vocalist Elaine Hatton and expert accompaniment Neil Riches.

Burns Sunday Lunch, Sunday 26th January, The Stanwick Hotel.

Enjoy a traditional Burns Sunday lunch with a great menu you can check out online, plus a Scottish piper and dancers to keep you entertained all afternoon. It’s only £25 for adults for a 3 course meal and entertainment and £12.50 for kids aged 2-12. 

Gin Club with Two Bird Spirits, Sunday 26th January, G&T’s Northampton.

We loved their last gin club and sure to love this one. This time it’s Two Birds taking over G&T’s for an afternoon of sampling their beaut gins and learn a few things you may not know about gin. Bottoms up.

Aladdin, Monday 30th – Tuesday 31st December, Castle Theatre.

It isn’t over just yet. The amazing panto we loved and we sure you will is going on for a few more days, so get your tickets to see the fab Natasha Hamilton from Atomic Kitten take to the stage for this festive treat.

Cinderella, Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th January, Lighthouse Theatre.

Panto season continues for another week so get your festive fix down at The Lighthouse Theatre for their Cinderella panto, it’s not one to be missed.

Mermaid Cover at Winterland: A Winter Tail, Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th January, Towcester Racecourse.

A magical and chanting show following The Ice Queen and her ethereal creatures as they get ready for winter. With lots of beautiful and magical things to experience, this one will be a great show for the kids of the family.

Susie Dent: The Secret Life of Words, Friday 3rd January, Royal & Derngate.

Countdowns very own Susie Dent is taking to the stage for an evening of curious, unexpected and downright surreal origins of the words that we all use everyday. Learn a thing you never thought you would as she takes you on a journey through the world of words.

The Burlesque Show, Saturday 4th January, Royal & Derngate.

Prepare to be dazzled by this spectacular show of sophistication, comedy and magic plus great music from the finest artists of the genre. There will be lots of stunning choreography,funny routines and high energy.

Mame, Tuesday 7th – Saturday 11th January, Royal & Derngate.

Arriving in Northampton is this musical classic, Mame, a brassy, funny and touching adaptation of Patrick Dennis’ bestseller. Set in the days of the Great Depression and World War II, Mame Dennis has to face several jobs with comical results in order to look after her Brother’s son is taken into care.

Screaming Blue Murder Comedy Club, Friday 10th January – Friday 22nd May, Royal & Derngate.

Held at the underground stage at the Royal & Derngate, this comedy club is one not to be missed, with lots and lots of comedy’s rising stars. Held over lots of dates, check out who’s appearing and when and book in for an evening of giggles.

Circus of Horrors, Wednesday 15th January, Royal & Derngate.

Roll up, roll up to a circus like no other. Prepare for an incredible experience that’s been going for 25 years. Packed full of acts, led by a rock n roll soundtrack, there will be lots of on the edge of your seat moments, at this dramatic but unmissable show. The cast also went far in Britain’s Got Talent, making it to the final.

A Viennese Straussa Gala, Wednesday 22nd January, Castle Theatre.

Producers of Mozart by Candlelight and Baroque by Candlelight are returning for the 15th year of this spectacular performance that has an anniversary twist. The show will recreate romance of the Viennese Festive season, and tell tales of the glamorous waltzes.

The Thinking Drinkers: Heroes Of Hooch, Friday 24th January, The Core Corby.

Watch this brilliantly funny show with five free drinks in hand as you learn about how alcohol has inspired explorers, politicians and painters, from Plato to Picasso, they loved it as much as we do.

Cats, Monday 27th January, Castle Theatre.

Watch the record-shattering musical that’s been transformed into a cinematic event at The Castle Theatre, starring Taylor Swift, James Corden and loads of other stars.

Billy Locket, Friday 31st January, Roadmender.

Northampton boy Billy Locket is taking to the Roadmender stage for an evening of live music. He is back with a personal EP, “Reset” all about his recent struggles and life happenings that have brought him back to music and his original sound.

Motown Night, Friday 31st January, Old White Hart.

Tony Gee is heading back to The Old White Hart for the Motown night, full of everyones fave and most played Motown anthems plus some hidden gems. The fun starts at 8pm and tickets start at £3.50.

LIFESTYLE & WELL BEING;

Ice Skating, Monday 30th December – Monday 6th January, Beckworth Emporium.

Get your skates on as you take to the ice on one of Northamptonshires most loved ice skating rink. It’s a fun filled hour or two for all the family with lots to do including curling.

Irchester Country Park Run, Wednesday 1st January, Irchester Country Park.

Feeling guilty after all the Christmas food and drink? Walk or run it off at this early morning start to freshen your mind and get you feeling fit, ready to take on 2020.

New Year’s Walk, Thursday 2nd January, Canons Ashby. 

This lovely walk, roughly 6 miles will kick start your new year. Breath in the fresh air as you walk along the countryside and then meet back to enjoy lunch in the tea rooms.

Winterland MK 2019, Thursday 2nd – Sunday 5th January, Towcester Racecourse.

Not over Christmas just yet? The Winterland at Towcester Racecourse continues until the second week of the new year so come along to say a fond farewell to Christmas for another year with lots to do and enjoy.

Wedding Fayre, Sunday 5th January, Whittlebury Hall.

Antiques and Vintage Fair, Sunday 5th January, Wicksteed Park.

Downtown at Delapre, Monday 6th – Monday 27th January, Delapre Abbey.

Elders Dance Company, Thursday 9th January, Royal & Derngate. 

A free dance company for 65+ is kicking off the new year at Royal & Derngate. This is a totally free class for you to meet like minded people as you learn contemporary dance in a fun and supportive environment. This is a weekly event and lasts an hour, plus an extra half hour for a cuppa and chat.

Warm Detox Flow, Saturday 11th January, Brampton Heath Golf Centre.

It’s time to wash away our naughty Christmas indulgences and enjoy a 2 hour, mindful, therapeutic slow flow practice, building on strength, flexibility and focusing on the bodies 3 main detoxification systems.

All Aboard the Wansford Express, Saturday 11th January, Stilton Pavillion Car Park.

An ancient tradition is taking place that aims to ward off evil spirits and bless the trees with the best possible harvest later in the year.Dress up warm, get outside and enjoy mulled cider where Matt Black will be the story teller for the evening and Wassail King and Queen will be leading a singalong.

Stitching Kitchen’s Hannah will show you how to learn the basics of rag rug where you will receive a basic hook and hessian backing fibre. Bring your own fabric or use the rags Hannah will bring, to begin create your very own rug, a great way to recycle unwanted clothing and fabric.
