We have put together a mixture of great Muddy things to do this month. Enjoy whatever you choose and be sure to keep a regular eye out for updates with new events added.  

MUSIC: Northampton Symphony Orchestra, Sunday 16th June, Royal and Derngate.

A music event to celebrate The Northampton Symphony Orchestra’s 125th anniversary. With a gala concert featuring famous pianist Peter Donohoe and the orchestra for Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concert No. 2. There will also be music from Walton’s jubilant Crown Imperial and Strauss’s Alpine Symphony with other special pieces to celebrate. Book your tickets online.

FAMILY: Father’s Day Garden BBQ and Live Music, Sunday 16th June, Westone Manor Hotel.

Celebrate Father’s Day with the family at Westone Manor Hotel, for live music from reggae band Mystic Crew as well as a BBQ and the chance to relax in the tropical garden, hopefully in the sun. View the menu and book online here.

MUSIC: Northampton Music Festival, Sunday 16th June, Northampton Town Centre. 

Watch, listen and enjoy some of the finest musicians around at the Northampton Music Festival, a free annual event showcasing the best local talent in genres from rock to classical. FAMILY: Father’s Day Picnic Hamper, Sunday 16th June, Delapere Abbey. 

Treat your Dad with a lovely picnic hamper to enjoy on the greenery of the beautiful Delapre Abbey, where you get a picnic mat and cuttlery to use. WELL-BEING: Let’s Talk Nutrition For Well-Being, Tuesday 18th June, Whittlebury Hall. 

Natalie Coghlan from NC Nutrition Consultancy will be doing a special talk at Whittlebury Hall all about how to get the very best food and drink for your well-being. The talk will allow you to explore the foods and drink you may be missing to improve your well-being and how to make simple changes to your diet that can lead to increased productivity and reduced sickness absence. WEDDING: Evening Wedding Fair, Wednesday 19th June, Grendon Lakes.

If you or a special someone is tying the knot and looking for the perfect wedding venue, look no further. Grendon Lakes are hosting an evening wedding fair, where you can enjoy the sights of this beautiful venue, with food and music to also enjoy. THEATRE: The Dreamboys 2019, Friday 21st June, The Lighthouse Theatre.

The boys are back for their 2019 tour, taking them to The Lighthouse Theatre. This is one of the best male strips shows, perfect for a night out with your girls. There will be a variety of known faces who have appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and X Factor. KIDS: Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom, Friday 21st June – Saturday 22nd June, Castle Theatre.

A perfect way to entertain the kids, at this musical adventure following the tales of Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom. Expect fun and interactive games, songs to sing and dance along to and laughter. FAMILY: Prosecco in the Park, Friday 21st – Sunday 23rd June, Beckets Park.

A definite date for your dairy, Prosecco in the Park hosted at Beckets Park. Full of prosecco (of course) champagne, gin, cocktail and beers to accompany screenings of a list of films from The Greatest Showman to Mary Poppins. There is also a ray of street food stalls which will tickle your taste buds. There is also limited amounts of VIP packages to enjoy, where you can enjoy the weekend in that little touch of luxury. THEATRE: Sensation, Saturday 22nd June, The Lighthouse Theatre. 

The Lighthouse Theatre in Kettering are bringing a spectacular new show called “Sensation”, where you can purchase discounted top priced tickets for only £15, normally £23.50 using the code MAGIC. The show is going to be an amazing performance of world-class variety acts, where recently crowned magic circle magician of the year, Edward Hilsum will be performing. EVENT: Absolutely Poetry, Saturday 22nd June, Old Rectory. 

An evening of the most uplifting and inspiring poetry held in the beautiful gardens of the Old Rectory. The event is in aid of literacy charity, Book Trust, with canapes and fizz from 6pm for you to enjoy. There will be a variety of poems of different genres, including Karl Nova and Alex Canwell. MUSIC: The Music Barn Festival 2019, Saturday 22nd June – Sunday 23rd June, The Music Barn UK.

Launching in 2013, the Music Barn Festival is back for 2019, and raises money for a local palliative care hospice, the Cransley Hospice. There is a range of music and activities for all, with some established acts and amazing unsigned bands, from a bunch of different genres, something for everyone to enjoy. KIDS: Inflatables Weekend, Saturday 22nd – Sunday 23rd June, Billing Aquadrome

THEATRE: Cranford Outdoor Theatre, Sunday 23rd June, Delapre Abbey. 

Chapterhouse are heading to Delapre Abbey this June to take you back in time and be transported into a world of Victorian England, where you will feel part of life in small town. Written by Laura Turner, this story tells the tale of a sleepy village where a new arrival is setting hearts aflutter, but at what cost does this love have on friendships and gossip? WEDDING: Wedding and Events Open Day, Sunday 23rd June, Elms Meadow.

This is one of the most stunning venues to host your special day, so check it out for yourself as you spend the day roaming around the Tipi Wedding Venue, located in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. WORKSHOP: Cup Cake Decorating Workshop, Sunday 23rd June, Vintage Retreat. 

The Vintage Retreat are hosting another one of their fantastic events, this time round, unleash your creativity and challenge your decorating skills where you will learn how to perfectly decorate cupcakes, so good you won’t want to eat them. FOOD: Pop-up Italian Cooking Class, Tuesday 25th June, Bar Encore.

SPORT: William Hunt Trilby Tour 2019, Tuesday 25th June, Whittlebury Hall. 

Whittlebury Hall are excited to host the Championship of Northamptonshire on 25th June, in the William Hunt Trilby Tour. This is considered to be the closest experience to a professional tournament for amateur golfers and will be the second time they have hosted this televised competition. THEATRE: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Wednesday 26th June, Castle Theatre.

Performed by the talented Oddsocks Production at Castle Theatre, you are invited to watch the Shakespearean classic A Midsummer Night’s Dream, full of magic and mayhem. This performance tells the tale of four young lovers who run away to a summer festival in the woods to escape their parents at home, before finding themselves in a situation of tricks with hilarious results. DRINK: Gin & Jazz Festival, Wednesday 26th June – Sunday 30th June, The Malt Shovel Tavern. 

Spread across a whopping 5 days, this festival is packed full of over 100 gins with entertainment from 4 amazing Jazz bands. MUSIC: Madness, Friday 28th June, Franklin’s Gardens.

A night of musical Madness at Franklin’s Gardens, where the iconic band Madness will be performing their classic hits including “Our House” and “Baggy Trousers” plus many more. They will be supported by the band Lightning Seeds who have sang songs including “Pure” and “Lucky You”. This is expected to be a fantastic event so be sure to get your tickets here.

ART: Wild Creation, Friday 28th June, Nene Wetlands Visitor Centre. 

Join wildlife artist Hannah Dale where she will be creating a piece of art inspired by wildlife found at the Nene Wetlands nature reserve. There will be a Q&A session, demonstrations plus work created by Hannah will be raffled. Hannah has now gone onto building a fantastic brand creating nature inspired products including cards and ceramics. The event is running from 10:30am – 3:30pm.

FOOD: Pizza and Prosecco Evening, Friday 28th June, Grafton Spa. 

Don’t forget every last Friday of the month Grafton Spa hosts their Pizza and Prosecco evening, a perfect chance to unwind and relax with three hours use of the amazing facilities including steam room and hydrotherapy pool, whilst enjoying delicious pizza and a glass of bubbly to help see you into July feeling fresh. DRINK: Coffee Cocktail Collection Launch, Friday 28th June, Gin & Temple Gin Lounge.  

The guys at Gin & Temple have created a new bunch of delicious, exciting and unique cocktails all inspired by the nation’s second favourite drink, coffee, (gin being number 1, right?) The menu launces Friday 28th June and has a bunch of barista-inspired gin cocktails including Espresso Gintini and Cappugino to name a few, and the coffee used in their long and short drinks comes from Northampton’s very own Yellow Bourbon Coffee. Next time you’re doing a spot of shopping, head over to try out one, or all their new creations.  

EVENT: StrEAT Food, Friday 28th June, Wooton Community Centre.

FILM: Dirty Dancing, Friday 28th June, Turvey House. 

The fab guys at LunaFlix, an outdoor cinema experience, are back with the classic everyone loves, Dirty Dancing. Set in the beautiful greenery of Turvey House, enjoy this classic like you’ve never seen it before, on a huge clear HD screen outside with the best quality speakers with the sunset going down around you. FILM: Cineworld Opening, Friday 28th June, Rushden Lakes. 

Rushden Lakes is opening their brand new Cineworld adding to the already long list of things to do here. The new cinema has 14 screens including IMAX, 4DX, and ScreenX with amazing technology to enjoy the best films.

EXHIBITION: Yardley Arts Inaugural Summer Exhibition, Friday 28th June – Sunday 30th June, Yardley Hastings.

Showcasing some of the most beautiful pieces of art from a selected number of artists within the region, this is an annual exhibition held by the Arts Centre, with the theme of garden and landscapes. FESTIVAL: Wappenham Beer, Cider and Music Festival, Saturday 29th June, Wappenham Village Hall. 

A free entry event, offering some of the best beers from local brewers. There will also be a mix of great tasting ciders, gins and prosecco. You can also enjoy the drinks with some delicious food whilst watching some live music who will be performing throughout the day. Keep an eye on the event page where the beer and set list is soon to be announced.

FILM: Dirty Dancing, Saturday 29th June, Wicksteed Park.

Bringing back this event, which was last held in the 70’s the Slapton BBQ is perfect for all you food lovers, who enjoy delicious food, good music and tasty drinks in a social environment, perfect for friends and family. Music will be played all day from a band and DJ and a variety of food will be available. The event is raising funds for St Botolph’s Church in Slapton. MUSIC: Trevor Nelson Soul Nation-Soul R&B/Club Classics, Saturday 29th June, Roadmender. 

Last year, he sold out Roadmender, and this year he is back with even more club and R&B classics for you to enjoy and dance into the weekend with. Last year’s event sold out within a matter of weeks, it was that good, so be sure to get your tickets online here. You will be guaranteed a night of the best classics, new and old, by Mr Nelson, who his BBC Radio 1 Extra stint.

EVENT: The Billing Off Road Show, Saturday 29th June – Sunday 30th June, Billing. 

A great event for the whole family. Spend a day watching action packed demonstrations from Challenge South West, entertainment for the kids to enjoy plus music, beer tents and much more. If you fancy a ride in one of the many 4×4’s at the event, you can go down a bunch of routes, testing mud runs and steep and technical terrain. FESTIVAL: Corby Sausage and Cider Festival, Saturday 29th June – Sunday 30th June, West Glebe Park.

Located in the stunning setting of West Glebe Park, this event is giving you all the finest selection of foods and ciders to wash them down with. The event is returning this year and will be bigger and better with a greater selection of food and drinks. MUSIC: Nile Rodgers and CHIC, Sunday 30th June, Franklin’s Gardens.

COMEDY: Rhod Gilbert: The Book of John, Sunday 30th June, Royal and Derngate.

You may have seen him on The Apprentice: You’re Fired and Live at the Apollo, but Rhod Gilbert is heading to Northampton for this brand new live comedy show, where he will be talking about all his crazy life experiences and how he hit rock bottom, but met a man called John. ART: Outdoor Art Workshop, Sunday 30th June, Rushden Lakes. 

Talented local artist, Charles Bezzina will be leading a fun and interactive workshop where you will be guided and taught how to paint from real life with demonstrations advice and tips. TOUR: Abington Park Museum Tour, Sunday 30rd June, Abington Park Museum. 

One of the most beautiful museums is opening their doors for a special tour around, where you will be taken to every part of this historic building. The tours will be led by well-educated volunteers to let you in on all the findings this museum has as well as the previous people who use to live in the building.
