FILM: Northampton Filmhouse throughout July

There is a fantastic selection of films this July to enjoy at the Northampton Filmhouse and with the extra screen there is now extra film screenings to meet the demand, so you won’t miss out. From independent films to blockbuster classics, there is a film for everyone. Independent films include Only You, Thunder Road and Dirty God. There are also a bunch of new releases including Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King. There are some great timeless classics including The Matrix, The Favourite and Leave No Trace. There is so many films to enjoy we can’t squeeze them all here but check out their website for more listings and to book your tickets.

FOOD: International Reggae Day, Monday 1st July, Turtle Bay.  

Fancy free food? Who doesn’t? Turtle Bay are celebrating International Reggae Day by making you sing for your supper, quite literally! Feeling brave enough? All you have to do is upload a video, just a short and sweet 15 second clip will do, of you singing a classic reggae track, upload onto socials and tag @turtlebayuk, and if you’re lucky you may just win a 2-course meal and a round of drinks for four*. From 24th June to 1st July there will be some great reggae hits playing in all restaurants to get you right in the mood, so what you waiting for? Get your phones out, find a track and sing your heart out. 

MUSIC: Raunds Music Festival Fringe, Monday 1st July, Ringstead Shared Church. 

The music starts at 8pm, where Dan Cassidy, an American violinist extraordinaire and virtuoso guitarist James Hickman take to the stage, leading the amazing Dan Cassidy Swing Quartet. This is an evening expected to the full of hot tunes showcasing the great times of the swinging 1930’s which is mixed up with Dan’s unique wit and charm. WELL-BEING: Let’s Talk Mindset for Well-Being, Tuesday 2nd July, Whittlebury Hall. 

Lisa Victoria, an experienced and passionate health coach, is back for part 2 of her Let’s Talk Wellness event where she will change the way you think. 16 years’ worth of knowledge have been packed into these simple but practical workshops and programs which will really maximize your potential. FASHION: Celebrity Fashion Styling Workshop, Thursday 4th July, Magazine Heaven. 

Love fashion? Want to get some inside knowledge from a celebrity fashion stylist? Fancy learning tips on trends, this season’s guide, one on one consultations and more! Charlene Campbell is bringing this great workshop to Magazine Heaven where you will leave all clued up on fashion and celebrity styling. Charlene has had 20 years fashion experience and worked on magazines including OK! Closer and Hello and worked with celebrities including Megan McKenna, Katie Price and Sam Faires.

FESTIVAL: Oundle International Festival, Thursday 4th July –  Saturday 13th July, Oundle. 

Spread across a whopping nine days, the Oundle International Festival returns this summer for an entertainment packed nine days of music, film and theatre and other entertainment to enjoy. There is a whole bunch of acts ready to entertain you so check them out here to find out who’s on where and when, including award-winning Stamford singer/songwriter Irene Rae. From coffee shops to street corners everywhere you turn you will be sure to discover some brilliant entertainment.

FILM: Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, Friday 5th July, Highgate House. 

Seeing as the sun is out and expected to stay for the week, head down to Highgate House to watch the classic sing a long film Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Held in the front lawns at the stunning house, an open-air cinema will be set up for you to enjoy with friends or family with food and drink being served.

FASHION: Charity Fashion Show, Friday 5th July, New Dimensions Fitness Studio. 

Teaming up with Heidi Boutique. NDF are hosting a fashion show to raise funds for Niamhs Next Step Neuroblastoma Charity. Pop along for a chance to see an inside look into the Heidi Boutiques beautiful range of ladies clothing, accessories and catwalk trends all in one place. There is a multiple range of sizes from 8-20 with different tastes and styles to suit all, with all budgets in mind. Check out the event page for information, here.

EVENT: Garage Garden Party, Saturday 6th July, The Old White Hart. 

The White Hart are excited to invite you to the first garden party of the year. The Garage garden party gets you a bottle of prosecco or a jug of rum cocktail on arrival, 1-hour bottomless eating, of chicken & rice or chips and live music from top garage artist Sweet Female Attitude plus DJ Meze Maz playing classic garage tracks. FAIR: Northampton Book Fair, Saturday 6th July, Park Inn.

Are you an avid book reader? Or just fancy finding a perfect read for your plane journey for your summer holiday to pass the time? A bunch of dealers from all over the country will be selling some great reads, most very rare and antiquarian so you can guarantee a special find. FESTIVAL: Northampton Town Festival, Saturday 6th July – Sunday 7th July, The Racecourse. 

It’s back and this year is bigger and better than ever before, it’s the Northampton Town Festival. A great day to spend with the family with something to do for everyone, from the kids to the parents. This year they are also bringing back the much-loved balloons for the fourth year running. The event is free to enter and has an estimated 65,000+ attending over both days. From chill out tents, funfair, kids’ zone, fireworks, stunts plus a whole lot more, there will be something to keep everyone entertained! More information and what to expect here.

EVENT: History Alive, Saturday 6th July – Sunday 7th July, Delapre Abbey. 

Returning for 2019, the History Alive event held at Delapre Abbey is a popular summer event which focusses on medieval British History including the Battle of Northampton. Expect re-enactment groups from all across, acting as Roman soldiers to Queen Victoria, performing arena displays and living history encampments. There will be market stalls and interactive, hands-on for for everyone. More information here.

ACTIVITIES: Love Parks Week, Saturday 6th July – 17th August, Northamptonshire Parks.  

There will be over 16 community events across 13 dates and ten parks all in a bid to celebrate Love Parks Week in Northampton from July to August. Organised by the Northampton Borough Council and the parks groups enjoy some great things to do at a park near you, that run through to the summer holidays. Starting at Delapre Park and finishing at Thornton Park, bring your friends and family along for some great things to do. Check out the calendar of events here

CHARITY: Summer Garden Party, Sunday 7th July, The New Lodge Vineyard. 

Get involved and be part of this fantastic charity event raising money for Cynthia Spencer Hospice and Wellingborough Dog Welfare (Wellidog). Spend the day outdoors enjoying a vintage themed summer garden party, enjoying food by local, small businesses that produce good that pamper people and their pets. There is a fashion show, refreshments, wine tasting plus much more, and you can bring your dogs along to enjoy the fun!

FOOD: Cream Tea Specials, Sunday 7th July, Lamport Railway. 

What better way to end the weekend and spend the Sunday travelling through the Northamptonshire countryside on a locomotive as you enjoy a delicious cream tea. After, walk it off around Brampton Valley Way on a historic Northampton to Market Harborough line or if you’re feeling lazy, take another train. FOOD: World Chocolate Day Afternoon Tea, Sunday 7th July, Bread & Pullet. 

Fancy indulging in some delicious chocolate treats and savoury delights? Who wouldn’t? With an amazing selection of cholate-based drinks and cocktails, book in for you and your friends or family to spend a few innocent hours at Bread & Pullet for their super-themed Afternoon tea. FITNESS: Orienteering, Wednesday 10th July, Ryton Pools Country Park.  

It’s best for us to be doing 150 minutes of exercise per week, yeah, I know, a lot. But to make it easier to get active you can enjoy with your family some activities to help make scheduling exercise easier. That’s where Octavian Drobbers come in, a local orienteering club in and around the area. On each Wednesday of this month starting from the 10th, at a variety of locations, Will Gardner leads the adventure and the best thing is you don’t need to book just turn up ready to go. FILM: Top Gun, Friday 12th July, Sywell Aerodrome.

Experience the classic Top Gun in an actual aerodrome, what a perfect match? The guys from Lunaflix are hosting their iconic outdoor cinema experience with TopGun being shown on Friday 12th July, outside on their amazing screen and high-quality speakers. Buy your tickets right here and grab your blanket and fold up chairs and enjoy this classic film like never before.

RACING: Formula 1, Friday 12th July – Sunday 14th July, Silverstone. 

It isn’t just racing cars you’ll be seeing at The British Grand Prix this weekend, expect a whole bunch of entertainment from Craig David, Soul || Soul and Razorlight. Next to the main stage is the entertainment destination, perfect for all the family, with a giant wheel, Segway’s, Mobile Racing plus much more. There is also a family zone to spend an hour or two in and sports zone to keep active whilst having some fun. There is also the iconic Red Arrows doing a performance and the chance for you to book in for a helicopter ride! So much to do, so it’s looking like an action-packed weekend. CHARITY: Muddy Furlong, Saturday 13th July, Long Furlong Farm.

Take to the fun, muddy obstacle course set in the heart of Northamptonshire, where this event is special as it is raising money for a brave little boy, Harry, aged 4, who is severely disabled after suffering from strokes during his birth which now leaves him needing a great deal of care, support and specialist equipment. There are 3 courses, 3k, 5k and 8k, so take your pick and you receive a finishers medal, action photos, free car-parking and more. Find out more information and how to get your tickets here.

MUSIC: Ibiza Garden Party, Saturday 13th July, The Pomfret Arms.

Lover of house, techno and old school, make sure you head over to The Pomfret Arms for an event hosted by Upsidedown. This free ibiza garden party is packed full of great music from live DJ’s, a dance area, BBQ, outdoor bar, glitter artists plus much more. This event is strictly 18+ and the after party is held at Elysium. Check out all the details right here.

EVENT: Rushden Party in The Park, Saturday 13th July, Rushden Hall Park. 

From 1 – 10pm, enjoy a whole bunch of fun from fairground, entertainment, food and more with a main stage showcasing some brilliant acts with The Counterfeit Beatles headlining. Enjoy a few hours exploring and kicking back soaking up the atmosphere. Event page here.

FOOD & DRINK: Food & Drink Fair, Saturday 13th July – Sunday 14th July, Rockingham Castle. 

Rockingham Castle opens their doors for the first time for their food and drink fair, so no matter the weather you can still experience some of the amazing, delicious and carefully selected local food and drink in a beautiful, scenic, historic location. You can sample and purchase great tasting products all from independent producers and suppliers from Northampton and surrounding areas. More information about costs and who’s there here.

WORKSHOP: Printmaking, Wednesday 17th July, Methodist Church, Daventry

Meet Iain, a local artist who specialises in woodcuts and lino printing. He will demonstrate the many ways of creating an image and transferring it onto paper. On show will be examples of his work and he will discuss how to introduce and use printing to textile and embroidery work. Free for members £5 for visitors.

FASHION: Style Safari, Thursday 18th July, Rushden Lakes.  

Join some beauty, fashion and well-being influencers at Hobbs, Rushden Lakes for a great styling event where you can see what Rushden Lakes has to offer and learn how to shop smarter. There will be talks from the influencers and a Q&A, so a chance for you to find out some great tips and tricks.  

EVENT: Ladies Night, Friday 19th July, Whittlebury Hall.

Back by popular demand, Ladies Night at Whittlebury Hall is guaranteed a well-deserved night for you and your girlfriends where you will enjoy a three-course dinner and entertainment. There will be a fantastic drag queen, male entertainers, and a disco to dance all night long to! FILM: The Greatest Showman, Friday 19th July, Highgate House. 

Highgate House would like to invite you to watch The Greatest Showman which will be held on the transformed front lawns. There will also be live music from DJ Bob & Barry, hot food, ice cream sweets and drinks served from their very own Chucbuds Bar. MUSIC: Flyby Fest, Saturday 20th July, Corby.  

Held in the heart of the local town, Corby are hosting Flyby Fest, a collection of great live music, art, food, drink and more to create a perfect day out for all the family or a day to spend with friends. Bringing the music will be some of the areas most established bands and acts but also with some up and coming DJ’s. Delicious street food will be available and some lovely tipples to set you up for the day, including a mini cocktail menu. Funds will be donated by Flybybars to Motor Neurone Disease. THEATRE: Funny Faces, Saturday 20th July, Bonkers Playhouse. 

Caroline Nash of Midlands based theatre Next Page Productions, is bringing her talent packed company to The Bonkers Playhouse in Kettering on Saturday 20th July with two beautifully written plays “Funny Faces”. This is a double bill of two plays based on the lives and loves of British legends, Sid James and Joan Sims. The show has already been given some fantastic reviews and follows two story’s, “Joan Sims” and Wot Sid Did”. Get your tickets here.

FOOD: StrEAT Food, Friday 26th July, Wooton Sports Fiels. 

The much-loved pop-up street food event is back, so expect delicious food, great tasting drinks and brilliant live music. The event is free and is always a great success with people raving about the great tasting options available. More information on the event page here.

FOOD: Spanish Garden Party, Saturday 27th July, Brampton Halt. 

From huge pans of paella and a bunch of delicious tapas with jugs of gawjus sangria, get a taste of Spain right here at The Brampton Halt on Saturday 27th July for their Spanish Garden Party where they will have live music and a raffle to raise funds for Cynthia Spencer. MUSIC: Grow Festival 2019, Saturday 27th – Sunday 28th July, Corby. 

It’s back this year, and is expected to be bigger and better! A weekend packed full of fantastic live music to enjoy on The People’s Stage which is commissioned by Made in Corby. The streets will be packed full of performers, magicians, art and much more for an action-packed weekend to spend with the family. This year, Grow 2019 is inspired by the theme of food, and the highlight this year is an enormous community feast. More information can be found here, as well as how you can get involved.

FAIR: The Artisan Baby Co. Fair, Sunday 28th July, Delapre Abbey.  

Are you or someone you know expecting a little arrival? Or do you have some bits and pieces you’re after for your babes or tots? Then look no further, this is a great chance to take a look around at a wide choice of handpicked retailers and suppliers focusing on nourishment and enrichment. The event promotes smaller independent retailers and has some fantastic, beautiful and true artisan products. KIDS: Holiday Projects. Monday 29th July – Friday 2nd August, Royal & Derngate.

Returning to the Royal and Derngate, fun drama-based Holiday Projects are back with their drama-based activities for children aged 4 to 13. From Wind in the Willow’s for children aged 4 to 7 and Musical in a Week for children aged 8 to 13, your children will enjoy a range of creative drama-based activities with fully DBS checked professional theatre leaders.
