Muddy reviews – Love2Yurt

No bags unpacked and there he is, off on the swing!

A beautifully tranquil haven, far from the madding crowd with four handcrafted yurts that will have you squealing with delight when you arrive. Surrounded by the blissful countryside (I was awoken after a lovely slumber by a baaaaa’ing sheep), there’s no need to worry about any music or noise, the secluded location is too far away from anyone else to care (unless the sheep took offence to my Taylor Swift tuneage).

I knew of Love2Yurt because they were a worthy winner in last year’s Muddy Awards and when I visited, I could see why they’d secured the top spot (Lucie and Joel the owners, are lovely)! Love2Yurt is outdoorsy but luxe, a happy medium between the two if you like. It’s a proper little gem where you can crack open the fizz, light the BBQ and forget about all your worries (we did all of the above). This is the place for a chilled trip or a bit of a party – the yurts really do make great venues for all sorts of occasions!

Natural beauty at its finest! The stunning, secluded site is located on Limes Farm which is situated in the pretty village of Farthinghoe on the A422 between Banbury and Brackley. It’s within easy reach by train and car (not that you can feel the presence of either nearby) and is only a short drive into the beautiful Northants countryside.

The nearest train station is Banbury which is 6 miles from Farthinghoe so a short taxi drive will get you to the yurts in no time. The mainline station opens up access to people all over the country – and with the pretty surroundings and chic offering – it attracts people from all over the country, so we’re pretty lucky to have it on our doorstep.

Love2Yurt takes glamping to a whole new level. On the outside, you’re in middle of an English country garden, step inside, and you’re transported to a Moroccan dream (and that’s just one option!)

The four yurts all have their own unique style and vibe, with different sizes for varying groups, all complete with a double bed – no air beds in sight! This is far from basic camping as each yurt also has its own fully equipped kitchen and washroom, they really are like a home away from home! There were two of us in a yurt for 6 to 8…it was begging for a party (next time)!

A typical camping trip usually involves a BBQ and Love2Yurt make it super simple for you. Each yurt comes complete with a BBQ and outdoor seating area as well as an undercover one too, so you can still enjoy a barbie in the rain and not have to sit in the yurt if you don’t want to. It’s alfresco dining at its best and you can pre order BBQ packs (meat from Brackley Butchers), including a veggie one too (I’d DEFINITELY recommend both of these options. They come with loads of salad too, including homemade potato salad and coleslaw, yum).

There’s a fully equipped kitchen too if you don’t quite fancy lighting up the BBQ or if the weather isn’t in your favour. Or if you want someone else to do all of the work, visit the on-site tearoom at Limes Farm for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Or do as we did and head down to the local pub (only a five min stroll) and enjoy a pint or three (we saw various old birds out on our stroll).

The location is ideal whatever the weather with easy access to the surrounding towns on the Northants/Oxfordshire border. Explore the countryside on foot, bike or car and visit the Cotswolds or Oxford if you fancy a day trip to a historic town/city. Silverstone is only a short drive away for any Mudsters who like to get their adrenaline pumping, and not forgetting gliding and sky-diving at Hinton, or more adventures at Catanger Llama Trekking and the West Midlands Safari Park. There’s pretty much something for everyone, whether it’s you and your beau, the kids or a girly weekend away.

Good for: A relaxed trip for groups of friends, families or just you and your loved one. It’s very secluded so it’s pretty peaceful but still with everything available – it’s very easy glamping. Superb for special occasions, you can hold a bash there and it’s got the potential to be the shindig of the year – there’s no need to worry about the noise and it’s far out – so go sing your heart out, sister! Also great for dipping your toe into ‘camping’ if you’ve never tried it. Worth noting they offer full and half day hire for private and business events…Birthday Parties, Baby Showers, Team Events, you name it!

Not for: Maybe not for the purist, old school campers, there’s no mucky business at this place; but really, I can’t see even those guys poo-poohing the gorgeous bedding and ease of a yurt. Also not for anyone who can’t cope with a few bugs or rustic living. It’s glamping, but it’s still very outdoorsy and there’ll be a creepy crawly or two hanging around and you’ll still have to step outside to go to the loo in the middle of the night. But hey, the moonlight will guide the way!
