Macbeth, Castle Theatre, 7:15pm, Wed 4 & 11 Apr

The Royal Opera House bring Verdi’s operatic adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy Macbeth to life on their stage in Covent Garden, London. Featuring a magnificent cast including Anna Netrebko, Željko Lučić and Ildebrando D’arcangelo, Wellingborough audiences can enjoy this production when it is broadcast live to Castle Theatre.

The warrior Macbeth fights on the side of the King of Scotland – but when a coven of witches prophesy that he shall become king himself, a ruthless ambition drives Macbeth and his wife to horrific acts. Murder makes Macbeth king, and intrigue and butchery are the hallmarks of his brief, doomed reign. The witches make another prediction, which also comes true: Macbeth and his lady lose their lives, and justice is restored.

Do you love wandering in your garden, picking flowers and foliage, then bringing it all into the kitchen to create something glorious in a vase, only to wish that your floral arrangement skills were less…amateur? Elizabeth and the team from Miss Lillies in Towcester will guide you through the process of creating your own stunning display at this superb fun evening workshop. Workshop includes: Glass of Fizz Tea/Coffee, White Jug, Ribbon for Jug, At least 15 stems of flowers and foliage (variety will be dependent on availability on the day).

The Floyd Effect, Castle Theatre, 7:30pm, Sat 7 Apr

Pink Floyd’s recording career spanned almost three decades and, for its 10th Anniversary, The Floyd Effect has chosen two of the band’s most remarkable albums to create The Bell And The Moon tour 2018. Spotlighting the music of The Division Bell (1994) and a complete, unbroken performance of the iconic Dark Side Of The Moon (1973), concerts will also include tracks from Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall, delighting Pink Floyd fans everywhere. And, of course, the music is supported by a dramatic light show that incorporates the iconic circular screen, two sets of projections, smoke and lasers.

Emma moved mountains to haul herself from scullery maid to Lady Hamilton … and yes, she occasionally danced naked on tables to get ahead in life, but who hasn’t? As a fellow naked dancer on tables, Shappi raises a glass to the woman England betrayed.

The Amy Roberts and Richard Exall Quintet, Castle Theatre, 8pm, Thurs 19 Apr

Featuring two of the most exciting and versatile musicians in today’s jazz scene, Amy Roberts and Richard Exall perform with their Quintet live at Castle Theatre.

Both multi-instrumentalists, Amy and Richard perform on a range of clarinets, saxophones and flute. Both were members of the Chris Barber Big Band, and Richard played with Mike Westbrook and Carla Bley Big Bands. The Quintet pays homage to many jazz musicians, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker, and Lester Young among them. Together with Dave Newton on piano, Bill Cole on bass and Nick Millard on drums, the group perform melodic arrangements that appeal to listeners of all styles of music.

British GT, Rockingham Speedway, Corby, Sat/Sun 28/29 Apr

The British GT visits Rockingham over the weekend, adding a touch of glamour to the paddock with some of the world’s most exotic supercars racing at breathtaking speeds. Racing on the International Super Sportscar Circuit, it will all be about staying power and endurance as the high-performance teams battle it out over two-hours for supremacy and maximum points. The BRDC F3 Championship will be accompanying the GT programme. The championship has established itself as the best place for the rising F1 stars of the future to make the step up into single-seater racing from Karts.
