10 top activities to get fit and keep fit
Need help sticking to them? We can help you there too!
Post holidays people are making their way back to the gym to get rid of the all inclusive add on, but really, I’ve noticed my gym car park is full all year round these days (maybe not so much the week before Chrimbo). Diana’s Health & Fitness has been my go-to for over a decade and I’ve done Pilates, swimming, HiiT and loooooots of steam and sauna ; ) Yes there are other health clubs out there, but I keep going back to this one and if you’re within a reasonable distance, I’m pretty certain it will get you looking and feeling FAB-U-LOUS!
So where is it and what’s the dealio? It’s Wellingborough based and has some of the friendliest staff ever. Whether it’s gentle Yoga and Pilates or high impact classes and 3 sessions a week with a personal trainer, this place has the lot (squash courts aplenty which both the Mudlet – now 18 – and Plus One really enjoy – I’ve JUST taken up racquetball and I can’t believe I can have so much fun and get fit doing it).
You’re probably thinking that Diana’s is just another gym but once you step in you’ll know it’s more than just workout equipment and sweat. It may not be a brand new spangly building, but it’s had recent refits that’s got it looking the business. Aside from that, the staff are like a family and the support from them and other members, really will help you to achieve most aspirational goals!
There’s loads to do there and these top 10 activities are just the start;
- Transform in 6
- Personal Training
- HIIT Class
- Body Pump Class
- Indoor Cycling
- Resistance Training
Here’s a few top tips from Fitness Manager, Tom, to help you stick to them;
- Set yourself a goal: It’s easy to just come into the gym and do a little bit of cardio or resistance work, but if you have a goal to work towards whether it be to lose 1 stone, run 10km or improve your upper body strength. You will be more motivated to exercise if you have purpose behind it.
- Measure your goals: If you have set yourself a goal, you need to be able to measure it, if you don’t then you don’t know whether it has been a success or not. Start of with some fitness/strength test and set dates to measure them regular throughout.
- Exercise regularly: Through the cold winter months it can be easy to sit on the sofa all warm and cosy, but by exercising regularly you can firstly strengthen your immune system, which can help you from picking up coughs and colds. Secondly it can release ‘feel good’. de-stressing brain chemicals, which can really fight off those winter blues.
With pretty nifty offers for you lucky Muddy readers (join for £10 and pay nothing else until your next Direct Debit or pay 12 months for the price of 10!), there’s never been a better time to sign up; it’s super easy all you’ve gotta do is mention yours truly. If you need any other excuses then how does a sauna, jacuzzi and steam room sound? A gym session followed by luxury and relaxation? I’m in (you’ll probably see me there! Sometimes, I just go for a nice warm up so I don’t have to turn the heating on in my 1920s house, shhhhh)!
