Review: Manor Farm Spa and Clinic

We escaped to this secluded spot nestled beside Lamport Hall for some indulgent and well-earned pampering. Aaand relax.

It’s so easy to get swept up in the daily grind, pre-occupied with work, family life, the news, and we sometimes forget to check in and take care of ourselves. Well you know that saying you have to put on your own oxygen mask first? It’s actually true. So we checked in to Manor Farm Spa and Clinic in Lamport for a spot of TLC.

THE LOCATION

Secluded and private, Manor Farm Spa and Clinic sits in a quaint converted farmyard in a traditional ironstone barn conversion on a working farm beside the beautiful Lamport Hall, giving it an upmarket rural vibe. There’s plenty of parking right outside, so tottering back to your car post-pluck/plump/facial etc. sans make-up and possibly looking a touch ruddy is not a problem.

THE VIBE

Spa owner Lizzie

Smart, intimate and discrete, the spa is headed up by owner and beauty pro Lizzie Teckham and supported by a close-knit team of therapists with a range of skills and specialisms who are brilliant at making clients feel relaxed and welcomed. It almost feels like therapy to just sit and chat in reception (though maybe I’ve been working from home too much). Whilst there’s a really wide range of treatments available, from gel manis and lash tinting to Cryosthetics, LED therapy, microneedling and dermaplaning, Manor Farm is about as far from being an enormous conveyor belt spa as you can get.

THE TREATMENTS

Emma: I’m always a bit tight across my upper back and shoulders as a consequence of spending so much time sitting a desk, so I went for an Elemis Express Deep Tissue massage, a 30 minute treatment designed specifically to unlock some of that built-up tension in the back, neck and shoulders.

The airy and spacious massage room felt like a refreshing change, I find so many massage rooms are a bit pokey and claustrophobic. I know you don’t technically need much space when you’re lying face down on a massage bed, but somehow this sense of space really made a difference to the overall vibe.

My therapist, Sophie, found the knots straight away and seemed to instinctively know the perfect amount of pressure to apply to make everything unlock. Not trying to kill me, but not too wishy-washy either. She used an Elemis Frangipani Monoi Body Oil, which smelled absolutely amazing and had me drifting off into la-la land in no time. Whilst it was an Express massage, you can opt for a full hour treatment, but if you’re pushed for time then this really does lighten the load and I genuinely felt refreshed and free from the permanent tension that just builds and builds over time.

Sarah: I had a thirty-minute Elemis Pro-Collagen Age Defy facial with Georgia. The crisp, neutral treatment room was warm and welcoming, with scented candles burning and low lighting. I slipped onto the treatment couch under layers of soft blankets and was delighted to find that the bed was heated. I immediately felt my whole body start to relax.

I was treated to a gently stimulating facial massage and, whilst the pro-collagen marine mask was working its magic, a deeply relaxing head massage that sent me onto a whole new level of utterly heavenly relaxation.

Blissed out, my thoughts genuinely managed to slow down and I felt truly relaxed for the first time in a busy working week. Afterwards, my skin looked plumped up, glowing and radiant but more importantly, I was giving myself the love and care that we all too often forget. More please!

THE MUDDY VERDICT

Good for: Making time for yourself when you need to squeeze some self-care or me-time into a busy schedule. Discrete aesthetic treatments on the down low and a highly professional but super-friendly welcome.

Not for: Manor Farm spa is small but perfectly formed. If you want a full-on flashy day spa with a pool, sauna and fancy restaurant then go to one of the big ones nearby.

The damage: Very reasonable. A 30 minute Elemis Deep Tissue massage is £35 and the Pro-Collagen Facial is also £35. Clinical treatments will set you back a bit more but there is something here for all budgets.
