We’ve covered pantos and Xmassy pubs, now get ready to shop till you drop this xmas as Muddy’s Holly Lamb has pulled together 10 fabulously festive fairs and markets in Northants! Expect carol services, chestnuts roasting and plenty of mulled wine. Fa la la la la, la la la la!

Christmas fair, Delapre Abbey, London Road, NN4 8AW, 15th-16th Dec, 11-5pm

Vist this marvy mansion for a dose of xmas spirit. With plenty of shopping, food, festive pony rides and a nativity petting zoo, this will please the Mudlets in no time. Oh and not to forget the rides and raffle! Delapre is bringing crimbo to life with a fair and plenty of other events such as wreath making and carol concerts, just visit their website for more info.

Christmas goodies and gifts at the Beckworth Emporium, 120-140 Glebe Rd, NN6 0DL, throughout December

If you’re looking for permanent, classy and totally organic market style shopping then search no further. Beckworth is brill when it comes to sweet treats, scrummy biscuits and gin gift sets. With their all new xmas emporium now open, you can spend the pennies on giant snowmen choccies, cinammon candles, and don’t forget: treacle truffles!! (it would be wrong to not treat yourself to a box!) Double bonus: you can shop in peace as the Mudlets slide around the festive ice rink. Heart of the Shires shopping village, Watling St, Northampton NN7 4LB, 13th & 20th December, until 8pm

With free mulled wine, mince pies (plus parking and wifi) visit this wonderful shopping village before the exclusive offers end. With 25% off at Dressage and Country Clothing as well as 10% off at Abraxas Cookshop, plus many more deals, you’ll find unique and quirky gifts for friends and fam. Could this be shopping heaven?

Sunday Funday at Whilton Locks Winter Wonderland, Whilton, Daventry, NN11 2NH, Sunday’s throughout December

Whilton Lock garden village is making Sundays spectacular with fab festive food, ice skating, stalls filled with stocking fillers, and even Xmas cupcake decorating. Why not make a purchase for the pooch by pampering them this xmas in their Pet Store? Breakfast with Santa is even on the cards so you’ll be saying ho, not no, to the crimbo spirit. Northampton and Lamport Railway, 15th-23rd Dec, Pitsford Rd, Chapel Brampton, Northampton NN6 8BA

Dig out that xmas jumper and hop along to visit Santa in his Magical Grotto before taking a train ride along the Northampton & Lamport Railway from Pitsford and the Brampton station. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been naughty or nice as every child is guaranteed a gift, and for the grown ups a glass of sherry and mince pie is complementary- who doesn’t love a freebie? The event runs from 10:30-3:30pm and ticket prices can be found on their website.  Grottos, trains, gifts, this screams xmas cheer.

Craft fair at Stowe, until 16th Dec, New Inn Farm, Buckingham MK18 5EQ

Slightly further afield, but hit the road and visit the historic fancy Parlour Rooms of Stowe House as they will be filled with the chatter of local artisans, artists and hand-made food producers. The stallholders will be on rotation every few days, selling their hand-made cards, door garlands, cushions, scented candles, chutneys, chocolates and liqueurs- it’s perf for creating a Xmas hamper! But WAIT there’s even a stall-holder selling dog accessories and pooches are perfectly welcome in the Parlour Rooms.

Christmas vintage fayre, Higham Town Band Club, 7 Wharf Rd, Higham Ferrers, Rushden, Sat 15th Dec

With vintage gifts, a hog roast brought to you by Purdys pigs, this fayre is family friendly and free. No need to fear if you’re a little late on the xmas shopping- the stalls and markets will be offering a range of affordable gifts made by local artisans.

Boughton House, Kettering, Northamptonshire, NN14 1BJ, Christmas Tree Sale and Gifts, until the 18th Dec, 10am-5pm

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, your perfect Christmas tree awaits you at Boughton! Bring along the Muddy squad for a festive trip out and choose between beautiful British grown Nordmann Fir or assorted potted trees (it’s Chrimbo gone classy). Gorgeous gifts for the whole family are also available in the shop including local award winning Harrington Gin & Two Birds Vodka and handmade wreaths. Winterville, Clapham Common, South London, until 23rd Dec

With London only a short train ride away, get yourself to this quirky alternative to the (totally over instagrammed) Winter Wonderland. Forget the Hyde Park event and embrace this cool, wintery whirlwind of a world. With the Twisted Wheel’s Roller Disco, crazy Xmas golf, street food, and booze from Bah Humbug, there’s plenty to get excited about! The highlight is defo the Backyard Cinema, but this year they’ll be bringing The Christmas Labyrinth with them: a magical maze that leads to an enchanted forest, complete with a two-screen cinema, a cabaret-themed bar and a hidden tequila bar. Once you’re inside, you can enjoy all of your favourite Christmas films, including Elf, Home Alone and Love Actually. Entry is £2 or FREE if it’s a) a Tuesday, b) before 2pm on a Friday, c) before 12pm on a Saturday or Sunday, or d) you have an advance attraction or event ticket. Oxford Christmas Market, 7th-22nd Dec 2018, Broad Street

With Oxford just over an hour away from Northants, this market is calling for attention! Nestled in central Oxford, marvel at the beautiful colleges and traditional buildings. Expect the sound of choirs singing Christmas carols, market traders offering unusual and handmade gifts, colourful decorations brightening wooden stalls, and the aroma of mulled wine and cinnamon drifting in the air – a visit to the Oxford Christmas Market is a truly magical Christmas experience and it’s totally free!
